You earn credits to graduate.How do credits work?
• There are 2 semesters in every school year.• There are 6 classes in every semester.• You earn 5 credits for every class you pass.• 6 classes x 5 credits = 30 credits each semester• 30 credits x 2 semesters = 60 credits in one year• There are 4 years of high school.
• 4 years x 60 credits = 240 credits possible.
• You must earn 210 credits to graduate!

• You have to fulfill the A-G Requirements with a grades of “A”, “B”, or “C” to graduate.
• You have to pass the CAHSEE, The California High School Proficiency Exam, in the tenth grade.
What about the CAHSEE?• You must pass both the language and math sections of the CAHSEE to graduate from high
school.
• Each section is worth 450 points.• A passing grade in each section is 350 points.• You will take the CAHSEE in the spring
semester of the tenth grade. You must be a 10th grader to take the CAHSEE.
• If you do not pass the first time, you will have another opportunity to pass the test.

Can I earn extra points for my GPA?
• Regular Classes are taught according to state standards and are College Prep
• Honors classes are in-depth classes that require more from time, study, and dedication from you.
• Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college level classes taught in high school. You earn an extra GPA point for each semester if you pass the class with an “A”, “B” or “C”.
• International Baccalaureate (IB) classes are global honors program taught in high school. You earn an extra GPA point for each semester if you pass the class with an “A”, “B” or “C”
