About The Author:

Jonathan Swift is one of the extraordinary work of English literature.

Jonathan Swift was born in Dublin, Ireland in 30 November 1667.

His Father was Englishman. His Mother Abigail Erick. His Father Jonathan Swift

,senior, an English Lawyer, Died Father before Swift was born.

Early Life :

His Father, an attorney , also named Jonathan Swift, died Just two months before he arrived, Swift was a sickly child.

His Education :

Jonathan went on to Study at the Dublin University in 1682.

In 1686 , he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, went on to pursues a master’s.

“Gulliver’s Travels” is beautiful novel by Jonathan Swift.He was an Anglo-Irish Satire,Essayist,Poet and Critic.

Swift’s major Literary works like:

1) “A Tale of Tub” (1704)2) “The Battle of the Books” (1704)3) “Gulliver’s Travels” (1706)4) “Modern Proposal”(1729)

He wrote Verse on the Death of Dr. Swift(1739)

It was also here that be began his first major work ‘A Tale of tub’and completed “The Battle of Books”- a satire about whether ancient or modern authors were to be favored.

Swift awarded Doctor of Divinity from Trinity College , Dublin in 1702.

During the period he wrote ‘a Tale of Tub ’ and his previous work ‘The Battle of Books ’ was published with the success of these two ,he began to achieve excellence as a writer and come to contact with Alexander Pope, John Grey and John Arbuthnot.
