Abstract

&he media"s hype on the foremost persons in college entrance examination is

more and more intense year by year. &his not only shall ma'e some examinees ha(e

incorrect attitde and prse near benefit and not want to pt their whole heart into

stdy3 bt also shall ma'e the colleges blindly enroll the stdents that ha(e high

scores and not wor' hard in impro(ing their teaching 4ality. &he middle school shall

therefore only highly regards prodcing foremost person in college entrance

examination and not care abot impro(ing the 4ality of most stdents. &his is

against the present all5rond de(elopment edcation policy in China. Hotness in

foremost stdent shall only ma'e the merchants and the media profit3 while Chinese

went to the capital for participating in the examination held by the :oard of Rites mst

send a letter to some official. !o3 the foremost one in the examination was called the

head of the letters3 also #hangyan. #hangyan was called ;the foremost one nder

the hea(en< and was the highest pri=e in the examination. As being the top one in the

examination held by the emperor3 #hangyan was also called >ianyan $the top one

in the examination held in the royal palace%. In odern Chinese >ictionary3

#hangyan is ths defined a title in imperial examination times. In &ang dynasty3 the

first one in the national examination was called the newly enrolled person. In !ong

dynasty3 sometimes it was also sed to refer to the second or the third person. After

8an dynasty3 it was specially sed to refer to the top one in the examination by the

emperor. ?ater3 #hangyan was sed to refer to the best one in some field.

#hangyan sees a long history in China. As the specialty of ancient Chinese

official choosing system3 imperial examination was almost the only approach that

common people became officials. &hs3 many stdents stdied (ery hard3 @st for the

prpose of being enrolled throgh this examination. !ome e(en stdied throghot

their whole life. /an in3 a figre in the no(el of 7 ing=i3 writer of Bing dynasty3

e(en got cra=y after he was enrolled in the pro(incial examination. &his can tell the

crelty of Chinese ancient imperial examination system and the inflence of it on the

stdents. As the highest le(el in this system3 #hangyan therefore became the target

connection with there prodcts at all3 some merchants still try their best to attract the

which not only cheat many stdents that want to be sccessfl in examination3 bt also

examination has an inflence power that any other examinations cannot compare with.

according to the fact. Howe(er3 the problem is that present propaganda by the media

the #hangyan of college entrance examination. &he following are @st the negati(e

inflences of media"s hype on #hangyan.

1. Inflence on the stdents

/irstly3 most chances of showing on &G and newspaper3 flowers3 and applases

are gi(en to the #hangyans. &he stdents that do not get good score or that are not

enrolled by any college shall ha(e great psychological fall compared with the

#hangyans. ;+o one 'nows yor ten years of hard wor'. :t when yo scceed in

the examination3 e(eryone shall 'now yo.< &his is the prsit of people in imperial

examination times on those that were enrolled. It is also an epitome of abnormal

edcation. College entrance examination is the largest talent selection system in China.

It has feasibility3 bt its @stice3 fairness and rationality are also dobted. In addition3

the first score of the #hangyans also has chanciness. any #hangyans are not the

best in normal time. Hype on #hangyans to some degree enlarges the psychological

pressre of the stdents. !ome e(en see distortion in psychology. &here was sch a

case a stdent got a score of *2J in college entrance exam3 bt he did not go to the

ni(ersity to stdy. He chose to stay in the middle school to stdy for another year. He

circmstance of hype on #hangyans3 not only the stdents that are not enrolled by

any college are losers3 those who are enrolled by common colleges also ha(e the

feeling of failre. Can an edcation system that ma'es most stdents become losers be

called sccessfl edcation systemM 0lenty of stdents enter into the society with

feeling of failre will ha(e deep negati(e inflence on the society. nder present

edcation system3 college entrance examination itself is a large montain on the

stdents. !o3 all the aspects of the society mst correctly regard this examination. &he

abo(e5mentioned endless hype on stdents srely wold bring negati(e effect and

ma'e most stdents ha(e misnderstanding on the exam.

Additionally3 some indi(idals and nits li'e #hangyans so mch becase they

want to reali=e their own (ale or do self5hype throgh this means. It is actally

awarding the highest score and awarding the examination5oriented edcation system. A

real #hangyan shold de(elop himself all arond3 instead of only in stdy. !ome

parents thin'3 hype on #hangyan is a good thing as it can encorage other stdents

and also pro(ide stdy experience for them. &his is not correct3 becase the pressre
