On behalf of Fr. Steve and the parish staff of St. Lucy Par-ish, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. It is a time of great blessing and rejoicing as we gather as family and friends to celebrate the love of God in the birth of His son, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We all have many images of Christmas from both our faith and popular culture but at the center of the great mystery of

Christmas is the deep love God offers to each one of us to seek him in all things and at all times.

Several years ago, I received the image of the Holy Family on the night of the Nativity. Mary gently cradling the new born Jesus and Joseph looking over them both as he shields them from the elements. It is a good reminder to us all that like Mary we are called to gently hold God in our presence as we recognize him in one another. (Continued page 5...)

porada de gran bendición y regocijo cuando nos reunimos como familia y amigos para celebrar el amor de Dios en el nacimiento de Su hijo, Nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.

Todos tenemos muchas imágenes de la Navidad tanto de nuestra fe como de la cultura popular, pero en el centro del gran misterio de la Navidad es el amor profundo que Dios ofrece a cada uno de nosotros para buscarlo en todas las cosas y en todo momento.

Hace varios años, recibí la imagen de la Sagrada Familia en la noche de la Natividad. María suavemente acunando al recién nacido Jesús y José mirando a ambos mientras los protege de los elementos. Es un buen re-cordatorio para todos nosotros que, como María, estamos llamados a sos-tener suavemente a Dios en nuestra presencia mientras lo reconocemos en los que nos rodean. St. Joseph is the powerful symbol of this recognition. He stands watch in hopefulness and embraces the mother and child with the greatest love as he enters in this wonderful mira-cle he does not yet fully understand.

This year we as a parish are receiving the Christmas gift, Resisting Happiness by Matthew Kelly. I pray that as we begin to read the book we will continue to deepen our knowledge and love of the Lord.

Junior Girl Scout Troop 62168 From St. Lucy Parish and School started the Christmas festivities by making Christ-mas wreaths and ugly sweaters or sweatshirts at the Dec 2nd girl scout meeting. They also participated in collecting clothes for the Hope Clothing Drive and Food for Parish Outreach. La Tropa 62168 de las Girl Scouts de la parroquia y la escuela parroquial de Santa Lucia comenzaron las festivi-dades de la Navidad haciendo Coronas de Navidad y suéteres o sudaderas Navideñas en nuestra reunión del 2 de diciembre. También recolectaron de ropa para el Hope Clothing Drive y comida para la Oficina de Servicios del la parroquia.

SEEKERS Retreat: Our I of III Parish Retreats is coming on Saturday, January 28th from 8am- 12noon. This morning of re-flection will feature parishioners sharing their story of entering the Faith, how God is working in their lives, and meeting the person of Jesus. All are welcome to attend. Especially invite those who are curious about Catholicism! Disciples Retreat which focuses on the three pillars are a disciple: Prayer, Service, Study will be held on Saturday, February 11th.

Many of our Married young adults are in Small Groups. It's a great way to meet other couples and grow in faith at the same time. Beginning on Monday, January 23rd we are launching our 3rd Married Couples small group. Each stimulating presenta-tion reviews in depth theology such as "Mary, Mother of God", "Jesus, Life & Teachings" and upcoming "Communion of Saints". Christmas Baskets: We want to thank all of the parishioners who donated food to our Christmas Basket program. We are distributing 60 Christmas baskets to St. Lucy families this weekend. We also will provide stuffed animals for the chil-dren and books for both children and adults.

SCRIPTURE STUDIES

The St. Lucy Scripture Study Group will be examining Jeremiah in an eleven week course on Monday eve-nings starting January 16, 2017 at 7 pm in PAC-B. The same course will be offered starting on Tues-day mornings, January 17, at 10 am in PAC-B. The suggested donation is $20 to cover the cost of the books. First Saturday Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations

Please join us in our "First Saturday Eucharistic Ado-ration for Vocations" on Saturday, January 7th at 6:30pm. We will ask the Lord to open the hearts of His children that they may discern God's Holy Will; we will ask Him to inspire in them a love and desire to surrender themselves to serving others in the name of Jesus Christ.

St. Lucy’s Church is offering tutoring and assistance to students from 1st to 3rd grade who are struggling in reading and writing. Support with homework and
