January 10th Nahant Community Breakfast Is Back After a break for Christmas, the community breakfasts will resume starting Friday, January 10 at 8:00 a.m., at the Nahant Village Church. The January breakfast will feature a presentation by Nahant resident, Mike Stempek, on his recent climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free- standing mountain in the world, at 19,341 feet above sea level. The free breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m., followed by the presentation around 8:30. Plan to come for an informative presentation, a hearty breakfast and some wonderful camaraderie. Please invite one or more friends. All are welcome. Arrangements for transportation of elders to and from the breakfast may be made by calling the Tiffany Room a few days in advance of the breakfast at 781-581-7557. This year, in March 2014, The Nahant Harbor Review will celebrate 20-years of service to the Nahant community. It was in March 1994, that the first “newspaper” was circulated in Nahant. Who could predict the course of that fledging community paper, a 3-page flyer, stapled at the top, and delivered in an envelope with flyers from local businesses and individuals. The community came forward and provided financial support for the little paper back then and now. Even though financial crunches have cut back on the services we provide, we will continue to work towards restoring the “Review” to a tabloid format, including home delivery from the Review Delivery Crew. I want to thank everyone in Nahant for their support in the new year. It is with the continued financial support from adver- tisers, subscribers, friends and sponsors, that the Nahant community news exists. Free press is never free. It is a precious privilege that needs protection, even in the United States. ---Donna Lee Hanlon, Editor Happy New Year! From the Editor
