The Sanctuary: A Complete System of Truth

The Sanctuary is indeed the most complete, connected and harmonious system of Truth of the whole Bible. In the Sanctuary, the calendar is revealed.

The Sanctuary Calendar:Luni-Solar Reckoning

The Sanctuary calendar was based on: the Luni cycle (moon) of 354 days,

the Solar cycle (sun) of 365 days and

the Barley Harvest Season.

The New Year:New Moon Crescent and Barley Ripe

• In the Bible, the New Year always starts with the New Moon Horned Crescent or New Month in the Spring.

• Combined with the Barley being ripened in April.

Jewish Reckoning:Ingenious, Elegant Method

Scaliger, a well known chronologist ofthe 16th century, declared the method ofJewish reckoning as “the most ingeniousand most elegant of all systems ofchronology.”

Meaning of Abib: Barley is Ripe

The first month of the Jewish year pointed tothe season of Barley. In Exodus 9: 31, 32,Moses gives a very important detail under the7th plague: “And the flax and the barley was smitten: forthe barley was in the ear, and the flax wasbolled [beginning of April]. But the wheatand the rie were not smitten: for they were notgrown up.” [around June].

Regulation:Month by the Moon -Year by the Sun

and Solar Season

Sidersky wrote: “The aim of the Mosaic command was to regulate the months according to the course of the moon and the whole year in accordance with the course of the sun -- by assigning as a starting point the lunar month coinciding with the beginning of a determined solar season.”

Passover Festival:Based on the Barley

“The ceremony of the barley was the divine rule by which the position of the month Abib was located. If by the first of the first month, the barley was not sufficiently advanced for the Passover festival, then a leap-month was added, and the feast period of the year was delayed until the following month.” The Grace Amadon Collection, Crucifixion Date, Part V, page 8.

Firstfruits FestivalBased on Barley

“Moses commanded that they should not even reap their barley until the firstfruits of it had been offered to the LORD at the time of the Passover.”

Waved Barley Sheaf at Firstfruits: Sixteen of the first month, according to Leviticus 23: 11.

Control of the Year:Barley Harvest Rule

“By the Barley Harvest rule, the Abib paschal moon could not come until the rains were over and the barley ripe.

March is the month of the latter rain in Palestine, and barley ripens in April.

Scaliger wrote that in the time of Christ the paschal moon limits were April 8 and May 6.”
