LAVALLETTE–The Music Man Ice CreamShoppe opens Friday, May 23, offering familiesa live entertainment experience in Lavallette.And entertainment is the key word!

"Many people would look at The MusicMan’s main product as ice cream," saysJosephine Sessa–Agliata, owner of The MusicMan Ice Cream Shoppe. "We look at our mainproduct as family entertainment, that serves aproduct called ice cream."

Patrons of The Music Man Ice CreamShoppe are treated to an "Old-Fashion IceCream Shoppe" with a twist. Performing waitersand waitresses may ask guests, "What would youdo for your ice cream sundae?" It’s a scream when someone has toshake for his or her shake.

A vaudeville style cabaret of upbeatAmerican tunes is performed during everyseating; sung by performers who maneuveraround the entire shop, singing directly to indi-vidual guests and incorporating them into theshow. "It’s a family entertainment experiencethat appeals to all ages," Sessa–Agliata says.

But what else makes The Music Manstand out from Lavallette’s other ice creamshops?

"There are a handful ice cream establish-ments in Lavallette within a one-mile stretch,"Sessa–Agliata explains.

"What sets The Music Man aside for families inLavallette is the fact that The Music Man pro-vides family entertainment with a seatingcapacity of a 100."

The Music Man has off-hour personalizedspecial events such as Private Birthday Parties,as well as a Children’s Story Hour, a performancestory time where characters from classics such asCinderella and the Wizard of Oz come alive.TheStory Hour begins July 2nd and runs weekly Wed-Sat, through the end of August. In addition,the Music Man also offers "Rainy-DayMatinees," with two shows at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

For families short on time,The Music ManIce Cream Shoppe offers Take-out IceCream, with a window open from noon tomidnight.

Opening night is Friday, May 23. TheMusic Man’s hours are every Friday,Saturday, and Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m.,with shows approximately every 45 minutesuntil midnight. But starting Friday, June 20,shows will be offered every night duringthose hours until Labor Day.
