The low delta T syndromeMonitoringthetemperaturespread(deltaT)isnecessarytoensureefficientoperationofasystemoveritsentirelifecycle.Ifaheatingor cooling system is operated with too much water, this cannot be convertedintohigherheatingorcoolingcapacity.Inthiscase,thetemperaturespreadbetweensupplyandreturndecreases.Theso-calledlowdeltaTsyndromeoccurs.Thisimpairstheefficiencyofthe entire system and increases the energy requirement of thepumps and generating system. Possible causes of low deltaTsyndrome are operational soiling of the heat exchanger, incorrectly dimensionedcontrolvalves,lackofhydronicbalancinganddifferen-tialpressurefluctuations.

Delta T management from BelimoThe delta T manager integrated in the Belimo Energy Valve™ is a function that continuously measures the temperature spread and comparesitwiththesystem-specificlimitingvalue.Ifitfallsbelowthis, the Belimo Energy Valve™ automatically adjusts the flow sothat only the amount of water actually needed to achieve the de-siredpower isused.Asa result, the integrated logicprevents theoccurrence of the low delta T syndrome and ensures maximum comfortwith the lowest possible energy consumption.
