Volkswagen was founded by FERDINANDPORSCHE on 28 May 1937

The purpose of the company was to manufacturethe Porsche Type 60, later better known as VWBeetle

After World War II , production of the Type 1 VW

Beetle started due to need to rebuild the plant butproduction grew rapidly in 1950s & 1960s VW Type 2 in 1950VW Type 3 in 1961

In 1965, VW acquired Auto Union Gmth fromits parent company Daimler-Benz, laternamed as AUDI AG

In 1982, VW AG acquired 51% stake in Spanishcar manufacturer SEAT , & acquired fully in1990

In 1991, acquired 30% stake in SkodaAutomobilova & 100% of its shares in 2000

In 1998, purchased Rolls-Royce under Bentley
