WELCOME TO THE MSA SPRING CLASSIC

I am delighted to welcome you to the 2014 MSA Spring Classic.Following the success of last year’s event and feedback from our participants, we will be based this year in north Wales at the Village Chester St David’s Hotel. The MSA Spring Classic is a chance for you to brush off the cobwebs after the winter and enjoy a weekend of classic motoring around north Wales and the Midlands.Unlike many classic car tours, the MSA Spring Classic involves no element of competition, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity to travel at your own pace throughout the day. The route book will guide you from check point to check point, and a team of officials will be on hand at all the venues to help with any queries and ensure the day runs smoothly.Widely regarded as some of the best driving roads in Britain, our first day will take us on a route through some breathtaking scenery such as the Great Orme and Snowdonia’s Llanberis Pass. These roads are ideal for classic cars and offer panoramic views of the surrounding area. Also included in the day is exclusive use of the race circuit at Anglesey for a couple of hours between the BARC races that will be in progress, guaranteeing a day of thrilling driving before we return to our hotel base for a sumptuous Gala Dinner.Restarting from the Village Chester St David’s Hotel, Sunday will see us head south incorporating more famous mountain passes before turning east and our planned stop at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Ironbridge. We finally head towards the Cotswolds as we near our final destination at the Heritage Motor Museum, Gaydon. The MSA Spring Classic is proving to be a popular event in our portfolio of classic tours and I look forward to welcoming you.

FORMAT OF THE EVENT

The MSA Spring Classic is a non-competitive, scenic tour for classic cars. The route contains a number of check points, which are open for a specified period, and are manned by experienced and dedicated event officials. There are no timings or penalties for not following the supplied route and participants are free to travel at their own pace. Participants are supplied with a Route Book which contains tulip style directions covering the route from start to finish. As the route is designed with classic cars in mind, we take into account the condition of the roads that are used, and run an opening car on the morning of the event to put up arrows and signage through any last minute diversions or tricky spots. We aim to supply a mix of breathtaking driving roads and scenic check points as well as visits to motor sport related venues. When visiting circuits we always ensure that we have exclusive use of the track.

ORGANISATION

ROUTE & CHECK POINTS

SATURDAY 26TH APRIL

The MSA Spring Classic will start on Saturday morning from the Village Chester St David’s Hotel in north Wales. Following the coastal road, the route takes us to the picturesque Victorian seaside town of Llandudno for our morning coffee stop. We couldn’t visit Llandudno without taking a drive around the infamous Great Orme, before we head off toward Anglesey for a visit to their race circuit. The circuit will be hosting a round of the BARC Championship on this day, however we will have exclusive use of the International circuit for 2 hours between 12:00 – 14:00 hours. A light lunch will be provided at the circuit before we head off for the more scenic part of the day towards Snowdonia, crossing the famous Llanberis Pass. Our next check point will be in Betws-y-Coed, the official “Gateway to Snowdonia”. From here we head east taking in part of the “Evo” triangle, before arriving back at our hotel base for the Gala Dinner.

SUNDAY 27TH APRIL

A leisurely start to the day as we head south toward the Horse Shoe Pass which, at a height of 417 metres, offers some fabulous views combined with excellent driving roads. A scenic drive to Ironbridge follows, where along the route we will pass the first cast iron bridge to be built as an arch. We have combined our coffee stop this morning with a visit to the museums in Blists Hills Victorian Town, which you will have plenty of time to enjoy at your leisure. After this we head across country toward the Cotswolds, passing through some quaint Worcestershire villages on our way to our final destination at the Heritage Motor Museum, Gaydon, where a visit to the museum will be incorporated with a light lunch.

Note: All route information remains provisional and is subject to change.
