Hans Christian Andersen’s
book and lyrics by Anthony Drewemusic by George Stiles
Won 2000 Olivier Award for Best New Musical – British equivalent of Tony® Award
Honk!, a tuneful, witty retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling,” is an enchanting comic musical for the entire family. After he is lured away from his home by a wily Cat, an odd-looking baby duck named Ugly goes on a quest to find his mother. With the help of new friends that he meets along the way (including a comical troupe of geese and an ebullient bullfrog) his journey home becomes an adventure – and an exuberant celebration of being different.
Winner of multiple awards, including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical, Honk! is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit and memorable score as it comes to life on our forest stage. Written by Anthony Drewe and George Stiles (who recently contributed additional songs to the Broadway production of Mary Poppins), Honk! is a comedic treat perfect for the whole family. Come early and enjoy a picnic lunch under the firs – and stay after for a hike to “Big Tree.”
Summer 2014
Leapin’ Lizards! The popular comic strip heroine takes center stage in one of the world’s best-loved musicals. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930’s New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.
With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous and magical world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations and befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Annie is the perfect family-friendly musical, containing such memorable songs as It’s a Hard Knock Life, Easy Street and Tomorrow. Plan a “day away” in the forest and enjoy a picnic lunch, a hike to “Big Tree” and an uplifting musical.
