Items such as notebooks and sticky-notes are the second-most pilfered item in the office, with 35 percent of workers noticing them disappearing, according to the survey.

Clips for keeping things nice and orderly are apparently pretty popular items in offices across the United States. The survey showed 28 percent of workers noticed paper clips or binder clips getting pinched.

Staplers were reported missing by 22 percent of survey respondents.

Wondering why scissors are always hard to find - especially when you need them most? That's because - as 20 percent of workers in the survey know - they are tough to keep away from thieving colleagues.

While the survey didn't measure seasonal fluctuations in office supply pilfering, you can imagine that the disappearance of tape dispensers grows as the holidays near, as gift-givers seek out tape for wrapping marathons.

Nevertheless, 14 percent of workers noticed them missing in action.
