Carol and Chad Ebel and
daughter, Nicole
Chad works in software and looks
forward to helping with Wesley’s
web ministry, and they live in
Coffee Pointe on the southside.
Nicole has helped organize
college mission trips and hopes
to help with missions and youth; she is in Armstrong/
Georgia Southern’s graduate school.
Shepherds: Joanne & Dr. Will Faulk
Nicole’s Shepherds: Elizabeth & Frances Faulk
Jessica and Gavin Finley
Newly married in April, the
Finleys are the son and daughter-
in-law of Kevin Finley. Gavin
works in construction manage-
ment, and Jessica is in sales.
The strong preaching and friend-
ship with their shepherd, Gaye,
drew them to Wesley.
Shepherd: Gaye Reese
Kevin Finley
Kevin is the dad of three sons,
including Gavin, above. He also
admires Ben Martin and came to
Wesley through his shepherd,
Sarah, who was born in Savannah.
Shepherd: Sarah Yates
Smaro and Michael Gemelli &
daughter, Emerson McCormick
Smaro, or “Sam,” came to Wesley
for the children’s choir for
daughter, Emerson, in the third
grade. She and Michael and
Emerson all wanted a strong chil-
dren’s ministry.
Shepherds: Kristy & Christian Valdez
Emerson’s Shepherds: Cole & Caden Valdez
Melissa Lee Cole Krawitz
Melissa’s joining Wesley is really
a homecoming. As an infant, she
was baptized at Wesley by the
father of her shepherd, Paul
Cleveland. Her family moved
away, but she has come home to
Savannah and to her home
church.
Shepherds: Judy & Paul Cleveland
David T. Lock
David, an attorney, and his shep-
herds, the Barnwells, are friends
who met through the Jaycees.
David lives at Southbridge.
Shepherds: Dana & Ashley Barnwell
Tara and Nathan Skinner and
children, Jackson & Emerson
First her shepherd, Jen Mobley,
invited Tara to the Young Moth-
ers’ Bible Study a year ago, and
Tara has been an active part of
that group ever since. Now the
whole family enjoys Wesley, in-
cluding Jackson, who attends Hancock, and Emerson,
who attends Isle of Hope Methodist Preschool.
Shepherds: Jen & Matt Mobley
Jackson’s shepherd: Hudson Mobley
Emerson’s shepherd: Emma Mobley
Sandy and Dr. Doug Stutzman
Doug is a retired physician who
wanted an historic church with
Bible studies: he is in the
Wednesday morning Bible study,
and he and Sandy both are in the
Thursday noon Evangelism Bible
Study.
Shepherds: Donna & Dr. Jerry Benson
Leslie and Dallas Washburn
and sons, Owen & Charlie
Dallas is the son of Karen and Ron
Washburn. Leslie is working on a
master’s degree, and they came
to Wesley through his parents and
also Eli’s Place. They love chil-
dren’s choir.
Shepherds: Karen & Ron Washburn
Children’s Shepherds: Britt & Thax McCormick

Recently, Wesley Monumental welcomed our newest confessing
members, the 2018 Confirmation Class! Brayden Allen, Ella
Barrow, Caroline Conner, Harris Glidewell, Claire Hayes, Greer
Hollis, Dallas Hunter, Julianna Jones, Lincoln Kraeuter, Anna
Livingood, Blake Maillet, Lexie Mattocks, Meg Mattocks, Amelia
Ruth, Tilley Sherrill, Mary Brit Tallevast, and Jed Thompson
participated in Confirmation class throughout this school year
and were confirmed in 11:00 worship on April 22.
In Confirmation, these young people made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, confirming
the vows made over them in baptism by their parents and church. My hope for all of these students is that
Confirmation is the beginning of the process of developing a more mature faith, one that will continue grow-
ing throughout their lives.
To prepare for Confirmation Sunday, we held
monthly meetings on Wednesday nights, cover-
ing topics like basic Christian beliefs, living a
Christian life, and our United Methodist herit-
age. Many of the Confirmands participated in
youth group activities throughout the year as
well. We also enjoyed a retreat to Lake Ju-
naluska in North Carolina.
I’m so proud of our confirmands and look for-
ward to their being a vital part of our church
and youth group for years to come!

Refugee Supper June 21 Please sign up with Nelle, 912-234-9245 or [email protected] to help distribute clothing
and diapers, Thursday, June 21 from 4:30 p.m.—7:30 p.m. Children are welcome to help!

Bordeaux. Nelle can be reached, 912-234-9245.
Ryan Sailors Van Fund Is Complete With deep gratitude to God and the friends of the Ryan Sailors
Family, we are excited to announce that a van has been purchased. Through diligent shopping, the total cost came in under
$45,000. The cash is in hand. The conversion is now being
installed, and we expect delivery within the next three to four
weeks. The Sailors family is grateful beyond words. Watch for the van
which will soon be bringing Ryan and his family to Wesley.
May is always a busy time at Eli’s Place and in the nursery. At Eli’s Place we
celebrated with the families of 26 Pre-K children at a Graduation Ceremony and
Luncheon on May 18. On Mother’s Day, we celebrated with 26 families on
Infant Recognition Sunday. Also in May, 52 Joyful Noise children received cer-
tificates at our Music Awards ceremony. It was a busy and happy month!
Eli’s Place
Vacation Bible School We are busy getting ready for Vacation Bible School the week of June 11-15. We are expecting 200 children to
attend this year and are looking forward to seeing our Wesley Gardens Retreat Center come alive with the
sounds of excited and active children. We can always use extra hands during the week, so please call or
e-mail [email protected] if you would like to be a part of the fun. Summer Sunday School—Volunteers Needed Summer Sunday School begins on June 3rd, and we are looking for volunteers to help teach the elementary
children. We will have a K-2nd grade group and a 3rd—5th grade group each Sunday and need two adult lead-
ers for each group. The lesson will be sent to you in advance and all other materials will be set up in your
room on Sunday. It is a joy to work with the children and to get to know their families. Children’s Worship Update Children’s Worship for our children in K-4th grade will continue to change over the summer months. We have
begun using the scripture text for the sermon each week as the starting point for our lessons in Children’s Wor-
ship. One of the changes you may have already noticed is the Family Discussion Page that is being sent home
each Sunday. Our hope is that you will use this page to talk with your children about the lessons that were
presented during their time in Children’s Worship. There have already been changes to the format of the
morning and our time together now includes, Snack and Conversation, Worship Lesson and Worship Activity.
We are planning to divide the children into two groups and have the groups rotate through the activities.
More volunteers are needed, so please say YES, when someone contacts you to help.
On Mother’s Day we celebrated with 26 families on Infant Recognition Sunday.

Thank You Thank you to the entire congregation and the Savannah commu-
nity for your support and encouragement of Wesley's Music Min-
istry by attending our Bach Mass in B Minor concert. Thanks to
your generosity through donations, the Music Endowment has
reached $60,000. This money supports the long term vision of
our music ministry to babies, children, and adults. "Sing and
make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to
God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 5:19-20)
Summer at Wesley Summer is here and we are beginning our summer program and wor-
ship at Wesley. One of the main changes from the school year sched-
ule is our weekly fellowship meal and program. During the summer
we shift from Wednesday nights here at the main campus to Sunday
nights at our Wesley Gardens Retreat Center on Burnside Island. Sun-
day afternoons at Wesley Gardens begin with our youth group (3:00
p.m.) and youth choir (5:00 p.m.), followed by Sunday Evening worship in the chapel at 5:30 p.m. and dinner
at 6:15 p.m.
Summer is a great time to enjoy our retreat center. You can come out early or stay late to enjoy time on
Moon River in a kayak, sit on or swim off the dock, walk on the nature trails, let the kids burn off some energy
on the grounds, or find a quiet place to pray at one of the outdoor pavilions. We are blessed to have this
beautiful, sacred, quiet sanctuary in God’s creation in the middle of our busy city. While we host many
groups at the center, we want our church family to enjoy it as much as possible.
Our retreat center will be the center of lots of children’s activities as well. Vacation Bible School will be June
11-15, and there will be two weeks of special elementary-age activities during the weeks of July 2-6 and 16-
20. We will continue to have Eli’s Place Summer Camps for birth to preschoolers all summer long at the main
campus.
We will also continue to have all our mid-week Bible studies. Tuesday morning Men’s Bible study at the Hol-
land House Restaurant (7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m.), Tuesday Morning Young Mother’s Bible Study (9:00 a.m.-10:00
a.m.), Wednesday morning Bible Study in Oliver Hall (11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.), and Thursday Lunch Bible Study
at Ruth’s Chris Steak House downtown on Bay Street (12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.).
And of course, we will have Sunday morning worship in the sanctuary each week at 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.,
and Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. One exciting project and worship opportunity for us this summer will be the
painting of our sanctuary and replacement of the covers over the stained glass windows on the front of the
sanctuary. That means for the Sundays of July 22, 29 and August 5, 12, we will be worshiping next door in the
Mickve Israel synagogue. We will be blessed to worship in that historic space and are grateful for our neigh-
bors offering us their gracious hospitality. We will continue all our Sunday School, children’s church, and
nursery activities in our education building during that time.
Don’t let summer be a vacation from your commitment to spiritual study, fellowship, and worship. Join us
and bring a friend to the many opportunities to grow in our faith.
