OCTOBER 2016
Dalton United Methodist Church
One day, not too long ago, I went to Lowe’s to get some building supplies for a small project at the house. I had some long boards that, after some careful maneuvering, I was able to get into my SUV. I barely had room enough to steer, but I thought that I wouldn’t have any problems getting home safely. Dalton wasn’t too far away. I prepared to back away from the loading area. Suddenly I heard a car honking at me. I looked around the two-by-fours and saw someone impatiently waiting for me to get out of the loading area so that it would be-come their space. They were no doubt upset with me because
everybody around us to see while their own vision is not too good as well! The people waiting in the car got their parking space and I got back to Dalton safely. In the meantime, I re-learned a valuable lesson: It’s important to deal with the obstructions in my life that keep me from seeing myself and my world as God sees me and the world he loves.
Peace,
I was being so very cautious. “Hey,” I yelled at nobody in particular. The folks in the car waiting for me certainly couldn’t hear me. “I’m blind here. I can’t see.” I’m not really blind. I can see plainly. What I meant was, of course, was that there were a lot of obstacles in my way that obstructed my vision. As I left the parking lot that summer morning, I wondered what “obstacles” were in my line of vision that prevented me from seeing what God wanted me to see. I then remembered what Jesus said in Matthew 7: 4-5 when he talks about our vision. He reminds us for wanting to be eye doctors helping

PRAYER ALERT
Please pray for the WORLD SUMMIT IN DEFENSE OF PERSECUTED
CHRISTIANS, on May 10-13, 2017, in Washington, D.C. All around the world
today, Christians suffer at the hands of those who oppose the Name of Jesus Christ.
Hundreds of Christian leaders, advocates, and victims of persecution from many
countries will be invited to come together to address this scourge. Original plans
were to hold the meeting in Moscow, but government changes there have caused
this event to be moved to Washington, D.C. Pray for our brothers and sisters in the
Lord who endure so much for their faith.
The Monthly Messenger
We can see and understand only a little about God now,….but
someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face to face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see every-thing clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.

OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE ON A
SPECIAL DAY AT A SPECIAL TIME. IT WILL BE ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15 AT 8 A M. WE WILL BE MAKING VEGETABLE SOUP FOR THE HOME BOUND AND
SHUT-INS. So many of the shut-ins who
received soup in the past go out of their way to let us know how much they enjoyed the soup. I also think they appreciated being thought of. So I hope you can make it a point to be there on the 15th to help make the soup and
enjoy a light breakfast. If you have someone you would like to be remembered with a jar of soup please let Myrna Streb, Dixie Jones, or myself know.
Other special occasions coming up are the THANKSGIVING MEAL AFTER CHURCH ON NOVEMBER 13, THE THANK OFFERING PROGRAM ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 29 AT 7:00 PM, AND THE COOKIE WALK, BAKE SALE, AND LUNCHEON ON
DECEMBER 3 from 9 AM TO 2 PM.
The UMW year for 2016 is winding down. Hope you will be attending all the
occasions and will be willing to help to make them a success. For the thanksgiving meal, the UMW will be providing the turkey, potatoes, dressing, drinks, rolls and butter, so please bring a dish to round out the meal. The cookie walk, as in the past years’, will need lots of cookies to be successful. Also, baked goods for the bake sale will be appreciated. One
other project the UMW sponsors is THE
ANGEL TREE. This project is through the
Salvation Army and it helps a family have a very special Christmas which they would not have had without our gifts. Hope you will
consider donating to this project.
On Sunday, September 18 the UMW had a perfect evening for the family picnic. It was a wonderful evening, not too hot or too cool and the rain went around us. The food was delicious and we had a bounty of
desserts. UMMM! The best part of the picnic was visiting and sharing the evening with friends. Everyone who was there would no

doubt like to say a big thank you to Bill and Dixie Jones for hosting the picnic, all who helped, and to Myrna Streb for having crafts for the kids (and some adults). They were cute
little containers which the kids decorated for fall. Thanks Myrna for something special for the evening.
My family and I have had three
awesome experiences recently.
The first was attending church at the Coliseum at the Wayne County Fair. This was the 22nd year. The first year it started out with 50 people and this year I can’t guess how many filled the barn. Every seat was taken with more chairs set up in the show ring than last year and people were sitting in the aisles and
standing at the entrances and around the top. What an inspiration, so many people there to hear God’s word and to worship Him!
Starting off the service this year was a group called the Redeemed. They were a group of young 20 year olds from Indiana who have been singing together for ten years. They were excellent and especially the bass singer. They really got the feeling of the Lord’s spirit in
everyone.
The Grace Church of Wooster leads and
organizes the service. In the past years Pastor Nick Cleveland spoke but he is now a senior pastor, so the new Youth Pastor, Tim Boucher, gave the message. Pastor Boucher had big shoes to fill but he filled them and then some. The title of his message was “Hope”. He spoke on Psalms 31: 1-5 and 23-24. Verses 1-5 reads: Lord, I trust in you alone. Don’t let my enemies defeat me. Rescue me because you are the God who always does what is right. Answer quickly when I cry to you; bend low and hear my
whispered plea. Be for me a great Rock of safety from my foes. Yes, you are my Rock and my fortress; honor your name by leading me out of this peril. Pull me from the trap my
enemies have set for me. For you alone are strong enough. Into your hand I commit my
spirit. You have rescued me, O God who
black. They first flew around wing tip to wing tip. Then the black one flew off and the red one started doing stunts. He would go straight up and stall then turn downward
spinning as he came towards the earth
recovering and turning upwards again doing rolls. WOW! It made my tummy do flip flops just watching him. Then he flew off and the black one came and he did the same aerial tricks. Then the red one returned and they flew off wing tip to wing tip. We don’t even have to spend money to go to an air show, we had our own private one. God’s world is full of surprises!
By the time you receive the newsletter we will be into the fall season. It is a very beautiful and special time of year so enjoy every day the Lord has given you.
God Bless you all with a glorious fall,
~Beth Johnson , UMW President

keeps his promises. I worship only you. Psalms 23-24 reads: Oh, love the Lord, all of you who are his people; for the Lord protects those who are loyal to him, but harshly punishes all who haughtily reject him. So cheer up! Take courage if you are depending on the Lord. I wish I could have recorded his message to be able to print it here. It was truly moving and inspirational.
If you ever get to attend the church service at the fair, you won’t be disappointed but come early so you can get a seat.
The second experience was going to the Q in Cleveland to hear Pastor David Jeremiah speak. We were there with way over 15
thousand people. What an awesome feeling to be there and hear his message. The first
message he spoke about was voting. He did not say who to vote for but to VOTE! He said this is one of the most important years because the new President will pick from three to maybe five new Supreme Court Justices who will control our
Supreme Court for the about the next thirty years. When you vote, he said to think not only about whom you want as President but how that President will affect you, your children, your grandchildren and even your great-grandchildren. After his first message a group sang and then Pastor Jeremiah and his wife came out and told us about his family. His eldest son then
addressed the crowd. Following him the
Christian music group, Mercy Me, sang. The crowd was really into their music, although it was too loud for us. One song they cut the music and had the crowd sing “Amazing Grace”. Now that was awesome! For Pastor Jeremiah’s main
message he spoke on the Revival of the
Christians. He told of different revivals clear back in Biblical times with the King
Josiah. Pastor Jeremiah continued telling of
different revivals up into the 60’ and 70’s. He said we are ready for another revival of the
Christians. He spoke about how
important it is for the Christians to STAND UP!! We are so glad it was one evening we didn’t miss.
Our third awesome experience happened in the sky near our house. The air space is
designated as an aerobatics area. There were two bi-planes flying, one red and one

you will find him.

Prayer is the absolute key to seeing God’s mighty hand move in our personal and national affairs. Here’s how we can pray for God to act:
Pray by first confessing our own sins, and in godly sorrow and repentance turn away
from them (2 Chronicles 7:14, Nehemiah 1:4-11).
Pray by remembering that there is only one Savior, and that our security, salvation and
deliverance never comes from government or men, but only from Jesus (Acts 4:12).
Pray knowing that all authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to our Lord Je-
sus Christ, and that His plans can never be frustrated by earthly powers (Matthew 28:18, Psalm 33:10-12).
Pray that governing authorities on every level will fulfill their divinely appointed role
of rewarding good and punishing evil (Romans 13:1-4).
Pray for those in authority to exercise their responsibilities in such a way that we can
lead a quiet, peaceful, productive life (1 Timothy 2:1-3).
Pray for leaders who fear God and not men (Proverbs 29:25, Matthew 10:28).
Pray for leaders who publicly and privately exhibit godly character and wisdom
(Psalm 78:72, Exodus 18:13-27). (From DECISION, April 20 16, Page 13, To the Point)
“DECISION AMERICA TOUR 2016”
Franklin Graham’s Prayer Rally will be in Columbus on
October 6 at 12:00 p.m.
Don’t worry about anything...pray about everything;
tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for
his answers.
