● Russell is kind of a wimp and is afraid of Eddie until he gets the Monster's Ring. Then he ends up saving the bully.

Characters

of this story takes place in the alleys, school and surrounding areas in the small town of Kennituck Falls. Russell runs through the streets a lot in the book. When Russell is in his last formation he takes to the skies, flying high over Kennituck falls. In some parts of the story Russell is in the woods.

The setting...

The Plot...After he bought the Monster's Ring from creepy Mr. Elives he found out he can transform himself from a boy into a hideous monster and back again. Russell Cranaker uses the magic to terrify the school bully Eddie. However, Russell finds the ring is making his monstrous instincts within him and it gets worse every time Russell uses the ring. But Russell becomes addicted to the thrill of changing into different monsters.

Summary

After finding instructions with the ring telling him how to transform himself into a hideous monster, Russell is convinced the ring is a simple magic trick like the X-ray specs he bought from a comic book. But he mutters the magic chant, twists the ring once, and to his shock, horns grow from his forehead! Hair sprouts over his face and his fingernails transform into claws.

The theme... is you should always follow the rules and you should think twice about something before you do it. Russell learned his lesson about paying attention to directions.

● Our group liked the book and thought that a lot of other people would like it too.We think that because some people like mysteries and that is what makes this book exciting. On a scale of 1 to 5 we would give this book a 100,000 on how good the story is.
