Meet the Monarch.The monarch is orange and black. It has wings. The wingspanIs from 8 to 10 cm. They are insects and have 6 legs. The eggs are creamy white and later yellow. The chrysalis is blue green with a band of black and gold.

Home Sweet Home
The monarch lives in forest, gardens, fields, meadows, prairies, and suburban areas. They range from southern Canada to northern South America.

Dinner TimeThe monarch eats milkweed plants when caterpillars. They drink
nectar when adults.

AdaptationsThey are poisonous or taste badly to birds and mammal. Some migrate south and lay eggs there for the next generation.
