The Mission of TCFD

The FSB Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) developed voluntary, consistent climate-related financial risk disclosures for use by companies in providing information to investors, lenders, insurers, and other stakeholders.

The Task Force considered the physical, liability and transition risks associated with climate change and what constitutes effective financial disclosures across industries.

The work and recommendations of the Task Force will help companies understand what financial markets want from disclosure in order to measure and respond to climate change risks, and encourage firms to align their disclosures with investors’ needs.

Reduce the Company’s impact on climate change:

• Barrick analysed current and forecasted GHG emissions to develop an ambitious but realistic goal to reduceGHG emissions.

• By effectively managing its energy use, Barrick can reduce its draw from local energy grids, reduce its GHGemissions, achieve more efficient production, and save direct mining costs.

• Barrick has set a goal to keep its current GHG emissions flat in the short term and is targeting a 30%reduction in GHG emissions by 2030, from a 2016 baseline of 3.5 MT CO2e emitted.

Improve disclosure on climate change:

• Barrick committed to supporting TCFD Recommendations

• Barrick will implement the full recommendations over the next two years.
