The CCB ProjectThe Critical Care departments of the Princess Margaret Hospital, which includes theSurgical suites, Pre and Post-Operative Care Units, Intensive Care Unit, NeonatalIntensive Care Units, have continued to experience increase demand for services. With the return of specially trained Bahamian physicians and request for modernsurgical interventions, it became evident that the hospital has out grown the presentfacilities. Additional space would result in decreased waiting times for surgicalprocedures and also reduce delays in admissions to hospital.

In 2009, the Public Hospital Authority focused attention on Critical Care needs andbegan to develop a plan for the expansion and improvement of these services. Today, the plans have evolved into an approved Critical Clare Block. This new building isdesigned to accommodate:.Six (6) state-of-the art Surgical Suites with technology that supports virtual learning• Twenty (20) bed Intensive Care Unit• A state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Un it for 48 neonates• New laboratory facilities• New Central Sterile Suppl ies Department and• New Medical Surgical Supplies Department

The new main entrance will allow the redirection of patients and visitors to thefacility. It will include:• Concierge services• Wheelchair access• Food court• Chapel• Healing Garden.Gift Shop• Security Services• General AdministrationThe completion of this new wing will provide our highly skilled clinicians and thepeople of the Bahamas with a modern facility, offering the level of service required tomeet current and future demands.

We at the Princess Margaret Hospital are proud of our legacy as the nation's premierhealthcare facility and see this first phase of redevelopment of the campus as asignificant chapter in our history.
