COLLEGE STUDENT ATTITUDES

Results from numerous studies have revealed that contemporary college students are, in fact, greatly affected by the culture economically, politically, socially, and psychosocially

Distinct factors students are dealing with:

Stressed

Disappointed

Constantly Filtering Information*

Being Special/Entitlement (Helicopter Parents)

Education is another transaction

“Edutainment” is the preferred form of education

IS THE SYSTEM FAILING THEM?

Millennial’s view academic learning as something that should be results oriented. They are well versed about benefits of attending college, may have pre-established notions about the experiences they should be having, including experiences within their academic courses

“Design of instruction” is most critical in creating significant learning environments. However it is the element few instructors receive instruction and most rely on “tradition” or “comfort” Video Link
