– A center – A central bulge– 5 arms

spiraling around the central bulge

– We live on

the Orion arm

We can’t see through the center, so we don’t really know what is here

Why is it called the Milky Way?• The Milky Way galaxy got its name because we can

see some parts of it at night, and it looks like a big band of milky white light.
