Congratulations to Anggie, McMannen’s Office
Administrator, for her new part-time position as
Palmer’s Grove UMC’s pastor. Some of you may
not realize, but Anggie wears many hats,
including being a Certified Lay Minister. In her
role at Palmer's Grove, Anggie performs all
pastoral duties for her congregation with the
exception of performing weddings, baptisms,
and consecrating Communion.
Don’t be worried, Anggie remains McMannen’s
Office Administrator in a full time capacity
Monday thru Friday. You can find her in the
church office from 8 am to 4 pm daily.
Did you know that the church has
space available? McMannen has space available for any size group for birthday parties, company events, homeowner’s associations, baby/bridal showers or even weddings.
Prices are reasonable to outside parties and rent to church members is usually free (donations always welcomed!).
Contact Anggie in the office to schedule.
CLUBS Movie Night Friday, February 17 @ 7PM McMannen Fellowship Hall
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Psalm 150:6
Saturday February 11 from 6:30—8 PM Paint and Praise is a monthly worship service which is
vastly different from our current worship opportunities. It appeals to our families with younger children in the
2- 12 age group. In this service we worship using music, scripture, literature and art. Come see what the
excitement is all about. If possible, RSVP to Jackie ([email protected]) to make sure we have plenty of supplies.
This is a creative film with good special effects and choreography in the animation
as well as fun music! The main theme is how happiness is within you and that you
can control whether you are happy or not. Another theme is being yourself and not
having to put on an act in order to get others to like you.
So put on your pajamas or comfy clothes, grab you favorite blanket
or pillow and be prepared to enjoy yourself.
Movie snacks are provided. Donations are accepted so Children’s Ministries can
continue to provide this type of monthly family event.
Saturday, February 18th

Sign up with Jackie ([email protected]) for the chance to win the title of the
McMannen Chili King or Queen. Crackers, corn bread , drinks and dessert will be provided.
After dinner we will enjoy friendly banter, competition, fellowship and laughter while we play a wide assortment
of family games. There will be something for all ages!
Turn your TV off, pack up your family and invite your friends to
McMannen’s 1st Annual Chili Cookoff and Family Game Night!
There’s a waiting list for the 1 year old and 2 year old classes and limited availability in the other classes! Through our culturally diverse half day ministry to children ages one
to five, we serve as a place of child care excellence for the community. Please call Jackie Bolen at 919-383-1263 or stop by any weekday morning between
9:30 and 11:30 to learn more about this ministry. Applications are available on our website mcmannenumc.org

M C M A N N E N U M C N E E D S Y O U !
Following our success last year, we are kicking off our second season of Upward Spring Soccer for school aged kids (K-6)
beginning in March.
We have applied for another Mission Seed Funds grant and are looking for referees, coaches, assistant coaches, team shepherds, greeters and prayer partners! Please
prayerfully consider helping in one of these ministry positions.
Would you be willing to support this sports ministry? Would you be willing to invite some of your associates or friends to consider supporting this? If so, what would be the best way for us to reach them? You can talk to any of the people who helped last
year, call the church or send an email to Jackie at [email protected] to ask questions or register to help.
Coming Soon
The Big Football Game, whose name is copyrighted and whose name we are
legally forbidden from sharing in print without permission, (but whose name ends
with Bowl and begins with Super), is almost upon us. Sports talk channels are
yapping about it incessantly, and countless advertisers are flooding us with ways
to spend our money in preparation for it.
The inauguration just happened. Our new President is on a mission to fulfill myriads of campaign
promises, ordering what he can with executive power, generating many conversations and inciting
responses which range from joyful to irate.
Christmas is behind us. For many, the bills are still out in front. New Year’s resolutions have been
vowed, and I’m betting the majority remain unfulfilled. Resolutions are always easier said than done.
Don’t lose heart.
Many inspiring messages focus on your role in this world. “Be a better this.” “Get serious about that.”
“Real patriots think this way.” “If you really love Jesus you will act this way or write this congressperson.”
I came across this scripture verse and poem designated for our current church season of Ephiphany in
the book “Imagining the Word” volume 2. In the midst of confusion and disappointment, perhaps we can
center ourselves in this:
“God is my light and my salvation: Whom Shall I Fear?” (Psalm 27:1)
And the meditation/poem by Philip Andrews:
There is a dignity here —we will exalt it.
There is courage here—we will support it.
There is humanity here—we will enjoy it.
There is a universe in every child—we will share in it.
There is a voice calling through the chaos of our times;
There is a spirit moving across the waters of our world;
There is movement, a light, a promise of hope.
Let them that have ears to hear, hear.
But look not for Armageddon, nor listen for a trumpet.
Behold, we bring you tidings of great joy:
The incarnation.
May God bless you today and always.
