The Messenger
The Good News of Christmas is that God came to earth in the flesh. We call this miraculous event: the Incarnation. We can
spend our lifetime pondering the many blessings of the Incarnation and never exhaust the spiritual richness of this miracle.
Here is one aspect of Jesus’ birth to consider. Because Jesus is fully God and fully human we are allowed to “know” God in
ways we would have never comprehended if God remained at a distance. In fact, many would say that the earthly life and
ministry of Jesus is proof that God really wants us to “know” Him.
Over the next weeks, I will be preaching a series of sermons based on the “I Am” statements of Jesus found in John’s gospel.
In each “I Am” declaration, Jesus reveals some of the very character and will of God.
I pray that you will join us in worship each week as we seek to know our God - who wants to be known.
Family Promise Week at Perry United Methodist Church On Sunday evening, January 3, PUMC will begin a week of hosting the families who are currently part of Family Promise. Family Promise is an intentional outreach toward homeless single women with children in Houston County. We will be hosting 10 people. Family Promise has a proven process that guides and assists each woman in securing employment, getting adequate financial footing, and finding suitable housing for their family. While each woman is in the Family Promise program, churches, like PUMC, host these families on a weekly, rotating basis. Our Youth Center will be transformed in to a residential space where these families will be hosted with the compassion of Christ. Volunteers are still needed for providing meals, early evening hospitality, and to spend overnight in the Youth Center in case there is any emergency assistance needed. Contact Katie Cawthon at the church 987-1852 or email her at [email protected] if you can assist. We invite everyone to be in prayer for our ministry with these families during the upcoming week.

Thank You! Thanks to everyone who participated in and supported
the music programs during the Christmas season. The
Sanctuary Choir's presentation of What Sweeter Music
told the story of Christmas in a beautiful way. Christ's
name was celebrated through voices singing in harmony,
soloists, instrumentalists, and narrators. The JOY Choir
musical Make Room for Christmas, and the Sanctuary
Bells ringing in worship brought joy and lifted our spirits.
Appreciation is expressed to those who worked in
preparation behind the scenes. Your contributions
helped prepare for many presentations to take place. All
these elements came together to bring meaningful
worship. I feel blessed to serve a church and
congregation who supports the programs we offer.
