Senior Pastor’s Message

There has been a lot of exciting things happening here at the church. We had

Five confirmands join the church by Professing Jesus Christ as their Lord and

Savior. It is really amazing and special to see these young people ask Jesus Christ to come

into their life. Now, the work begins for all of us in the church family to help nurture and

support them in their faith so that they continue to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ. We also

have had several people transfer their membership here to Mt. Holly 1st UMC. We are so

blessed to have these people become a part of our church family. It is real important for us to

reach out and invite these people and others to our Sunday School classes and pray about

starting new ones.

At Annual Conference, they talked about Dinner Church, where people get together

around the dinner table to eat a meal, have prayer, devotion, and share their faith. What

would it be for us to use our church kitchen or maybe even your kitchen at your house for this

outreach ministry that allows us to connect with people that we normally would not connect

with outside the church. Please, let me know if you are interested in this. God Bless,

In Christ, Pastor Mike Carr

Our next Wonderful Wednesday outing is to the Duke Energy Explorium on July 10th. We will

leave the church at 10:00 and return at 1:00. Please bring your lunch and a drink. The Wonderful

Wednesday schedule has changed slightly. We will go to Dan Nicholas Park on July 24th from

9:00 until 2:30 instead of the Raptor Center. Please let me know if your child is attending these

outings. We welcome all children to attend with us. Those ages 4-5th grade may come without parents.

Younger children need to be accompanied by an adult. If you have any questions, please contact

Pastor Jerrianne.

Vacation Bible School will begin on Sunday, July 17th-20th. The theme is Roar, Life is Wild; God is Good.

Please consider helping with this ministry. Contact Jaime Anderson to volunteer or if you have questions.

Youth will continue to meet during the summer on Wednesday nights at 6:30 and

for special activities on Sundays. On Wednesday nights we go out for ice cream or something similar and have a

devotion time. We have Sunday School and other special outings on Sundays. If you are not receiving a

“Remind” text, please contact Pastor Jerrianne. These are sent out most weeks to remind the youth and

parents of our activities.

Our youth and leaders will be going on a Carolina Cross Connection mission trip from July 14-20th. Please

keep us in your prayers.

Ladies Bible Study will begin on August 13th. We will study the book of Titus. Bring your Bible and come join us

on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 for a deeper look into the Scripture. All are welcome, no need to sign up just show

up!

Fast Track Disciple Bible Study for Young Adults and others will begin on Sunday night August 11th and continue

through November 10th. We will have an introductory meeting at 5:00 that evening. This is a 12-week journey

through the Scripture. We will have two 12-week sessions. The first session will take us through the

Old Testament and the second session (in the winter) will take us through the New Testament. If you have

wanted to know more about the Bible this class is for you! The study book will cost $14. We will meet from

5:00-7:00 each Sunday night for 12 weeks. Please sign up outside the library if you are interested. See Pastor

Jerrianne if you have any questions.

Save the Earth! Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! , Blessings, Rev. Jerrianne

upcoming renovation at the parsonage. Kellie, Mia,

having everyone over around Christmas time. The

extravagant generosity in this church is amazing.

When there is an opportunity to give as a need arises,

DO YOU ENJOY READING The “Passionate Readers” Christian book club is starting this summer. A book selection is announced for each month and all are invited to read the book

selected and then join in the discussion group to listen, share, and reflect together. The subject matter will be African American Fiction/Historical, Non-Fiction, Church & Culture, Racial Equality, Spiritual Growth, and Christian Living. The authors will be primarily women writers of the 18,19, 20th and 21 century. All participants may add to the suggested book list. The book selections will be chosen by a democratic method. Readers may have the choice of choosing one novel or 2 mini books each month for discussion. For those who cannot attend all the meetings may tune in through Skype. Most books on the current reading list are paperback and e-book format and can be purchased through thriftbook.com for a reasonable price.

Through the “Passionate Readers” book club, I pray that we will be encouraged, challenged, and walk the holy ground of life together before God as we travel with the women authors of past history and current times. If you are interested in joining and participating, please contact Linda Nichols @ [email protected], or phone 704 617 8296. First scheduled meeting will be Thursday, August 29, 2019. Time and location will posted at later date.
