Dear Art Lovers,

Fall is a time for back to school, football games, changing leaves, warm days and cool nights, and ART! As we launch our new season of programming, we look forward to falling into our own familiar, and fantastic, routines – free music in the gallery every Tuesday, portrait painters on Wednesdays, and the usual hustle and bustle of live performances and special events. Look for local art on the walls, and the next sessions of creative and inspiring art classes at the MAC!

In addition to our returning favorites, we have added exciting programming to the new season at the McConnell Arts Center. Our goal this year is to grow and build audiences through diverse and engaging programming, presenting the arts in all its forms through the lens of local artists and community engagement. Help us grow this year by bringing your friends and neighbors with you next time you come to the MAC.

Building on the success of the new kids and family area at the Worthington Arts Festival this past summer, you will notice more family friendly activities and special events at the MAC in the months to come. Keep your eyes peeled for a pajama party in January!

Joining returning favorites in the Bronwynn Theatre, such as the Exhibition on Screen film series and the McConnell Arts Center Chamber Orchestra, will be local musician Tony Haygood in a new series of jazz concerts throughout the year.

We’re adding a new casual event called “the Hangover Brunch”, featuring food trucks and live music on a Sunday afternoon. The two dates this year are October 8 and May 13 (yes, Mother’s Day!). Details to follow!

As we continue to grow as an organization, we are grateful for your support and encouragement – as volunteer, art student, ticket buyer, arts patron, member, and donor – YOU make all that we do possible.

We look forward to seeing you soon at the MAC!

gET INvOLvED @ THE MAC!

Volunteer spotlight: Mac’s Dynamic Duo!Retired from careers in Information Technology, Worthington couple George and Kathy Bleimes discovered the MAC after George took a Digital SLR photography class here in 2013. Shortly after, he and Kathy decided to join the team and have spent time volunteering ever since.

While not at the MAC, George devotes time to hobbies like photography, biking and reading, while Kathy enjoys genealogy and creating art pieces from George’s photography and paper crafting. Currently, you can find Kathy at the MAC reception desk while George ushers at events and helps install the art exhibits in galleries throughout the building.

What aspects of volunteering do they enjoy the most? For, Kathy, it’s the chance to meet MAC patrons and encouraging them to take advantage of all the awesome MAC activities, while George found his niche in the technical side of planning exhibitions. If you’re hesitant about getting involved, the Bleimes have some advice!

“Engaging in the arts, taking classes and volunteering all have the benefit of getting individuals involved socially and intellectually with creative, like-minded people. Don’t be shy, it’s very rewarding!”

Their enthusiasm and contributions help make the MAC a great place to work, play and discover. Thanks George and Kathy!

Volunteer at the Mac! The MAC produces and hosts over 250+ events each year and we could not do it without the support from our volunteers. If you are interested in lending a hand during one of our many, varied, creative arts experiences, concerts, receptions and other special events, please contact Jenn Dalton at [email protected].

Great art depends on two things: inspiration and expression. Anything can provide the inspiration. But the quality of the expression depends on the passion, skill, discipline and commitment of the artist.

At Hamilton Capital Management, we’re inspired by our clients and their dreams, and we apply our passion, skill, discipline and commitment to helping make those dreams come true with sound, dynamic, comprehensive investment strategies.

It’s not art, but it feels that way to us. And if it helps you achieve your dreams, it can feel that way to you, too.
