Instructions This booklet has been designed to help students and families work through the subject selection process. Students should follow the steps below:

PART 1 – Course Planning Record

1. Familiarize yourself with the Middle Years Curriculum Model (page 3) and Middle Years Curriculum Guide (separate document)

2. PART 1 - COURSE PLANNING RECORD (page 2) provides detailed instructions relevant to Year 8 course selections. Students should work through each step and keep records of their progress by checking the appropriate boxes.

PART 2 – Year 8 Planner

3. PART 2 – YEAR 8 PLANNER (page 5-6) should be completed to map out subject selections.

PART 3 – Subject Selection Sheet

4. Complete PART 3 - SUBJECT SELECTION SHEET (page 7 - 10) by filling in all required boxes. It is vital that your choices are in priority order.

5. Once complete, log onto Web Preferences and enter final subject selections

PART 4 – Final Declaration

6. A PART 4 - FINAL DECLARATION must be printed and signed by you, your parents, and your Home Group teacher.

7. Submit this to your Home Group teacher to finish the process

PART 1 - COURSE PLANNING RECORD - PART 1 – COURSE PLANNING RECORD involves completing and recording your progress through each

of the steps on this page- Read the Marryatville Curriculum Model for Middle Years (in this booklet)- Make sure you are familiar with the requirements for Year 8 subject patterns- Make sure you have identified your correct pathway – Elective Music, Special Interest Music, Special

Interest tennis, and are familiar with any specialist requirements

- Use PART 2 - YEAR 8 PLANNER to plan your subject selections for next year- Select only from the Year 8 subject list

PART 3 - SUBJECT SELECTION - Use PART 3 - SUBJECT SELECTION SHEET to record your final Year 8 subject selections- Compulsory courses are prefilled in purple boxes- Firstly select subject PREFERENCES by filling each of the blue and green boxes on the subject

selection sheet.- Then select RESERVES to fill the yellow boxes. These must be selected according to the requirements

in each box ie. The Arts or Technologies or Free Choice Reserve. Free choice Reserves should be inpriority order.
