2016v1 The manaba Online Class Management System manaba is a new online system available to all full- and part-time teachers for recording attendance, uploading assignments, collecting reports and giving feedback on them, and setting up student discussion forums. Once you log in to manaba, you will find a link for each of your classes already set up with all the registered students on the system. (Please note that class lists may change through the first few weeks of classes as students finalize their class schedules.) Logging in to manaba You can log in to manaba from the PC 用 and スマホ用(smartphone) tabs at the bottom of the manaba entry page <http://www2.chuo-u.ac.jp/com/manaba/>. You can also find a link to the entry page on the Chuo University Law Faculty homepage as well as on the Chuo University general homepage. On the Law Faculty homepage, scroll down and find the link along the left margin (above the link for C plus); on the general University homepage, scroll down to the row of moving icons (the icon may not be immediately visible) towards the bottom of the page. The link looks like this: Use the same ID and password as for C plus. Once you are logged in, you will be taken to a security confirmation page titled “Web Single Sign On System.” Click on 次 (Next), and then 送信 (Send) on the following page. This will take you to your “My Courses” page. Click on the “English” tab in the top right-hand corner to switch language settings. Click on a particular course to go to the page for that course, and you will see a row of tabs, and below the tabs to the right you will find a class list link (“Course Member List”)

AssignmentsTheAssignmentsfunctionletsyouuploadassignmentsonline.Thisfunctionalsoallowsstudents
tosubmitassignmentsonline.Theycaneitherwritedirectlyonlineoruploadanattachment(Word,Excel,
imagefiles,soundfiles,etc.)dependingonthenatureoftheassignment.Youhavethechoiceofallowingall
coursememberstoviewandpostcommentsoneachother’ssubmittedwork.
ProjectsWiththeProjectsfunction,youcandivideenrolledstudentsintoseveralteamsandprovidespacefor
themtoholdonlinediscussionsandsubmitagroupproject.Aforumandawindowforsubmittingaprojectare
availableforeveryteam.Thesubmittedprojectscanbemutuallyreviewedbyallthestudentsinthesame
grouporbytheentireclassdependingonthesettings.
ResourcesResourcesisaspacewhereyoucaneasilyuploadresources,includingteachingmaterials.By
clickingonthe‘AddResources’button,youcancreateafileforeachresourceyouwanttoshare.Youcanalso
uploadfilesbyusingthe‘Paperclipfile’icon.Resourcesaddedarepublishedonlytothecoursemembers.
PortfoliosRegisteredstudentshaveaportfoliospacetoaccumulatetheirsubmittedworkandcommentsfor
eachcourse.Youcandecidewhichstudentmaterialswillbeaddedtoportfolios,includingassignments,tests
andprojects.Furthermore,portfolioscanbemadeaccessibletoallcoursemembersoronlytoyouandthe
respectivestudent.
SurveysThesurveysfunctionletsyouconductstudentsurveysonline.Resultsarecollectedandorganizedin
Excel,allowingyoutodownloadthesurveyandresultstoyourowncomputer.
TestsIntheTestsfunction,youcanhandout,collectandgradetestsonline.(Thisfunctionmaybeofusein
courseswithanexplicitTOEICorTOEFLcomponent,butnotsoinListening&SpeakingandWritingclasses
whichdonotinvolvetesting.)
GradesTheGradesfunctionletsyouregisterandkeeptrackofstudentscoresforassignmentsadministered
throughmanaba.Scoresalongwithfeedbackcanbemadeavailabletostudentstogivethemasenseoftheir
progressinthecourse.Youcanalsoregistergradesofextracurricularactivities,practicaltraining,labsor
attendance.
