Dear Colleague:

Throughout my looooong career as an information professional, I have seen many smart moves, many dumb moves, and many “un-moves” (both smart and dumb) by colleagues inside and outside traditional settings. The goal of Searcher magazine is to holler—in time—“WATCH OUT FOR THATTREE!” We holler for three reasons:

❯ so that our readers can ski around an obstacle.❯ so that our readers can pluck the very shiniest apple from the very best tree in the very best orchard.❯ so that our readers can order sufficient supplies from treehousesRus.com.

If you too are skiing the slopes and heights of the New Information Order, if you sell apples or orchards,or if your nest includes an ecommerce function, join us in helping the rest of the information professionmake it through these challenging times.

We at Searcher magazine are proud to present our media kit for 2008. In the past year, Searcher hasadded an important feature designed to serve the needs of our core audience: experienced andinformed database professionals and searchers. We introduced LiveLinks. From each issue, we selecta number of articles that have a significant collection of URLs and present them as Open Web files onthe Infotoday.com/Searcher Web page along with a full bibliographic citation. This allows print subscribers to download the lists into their bookmark or Favorites collections easily. Since theLiveLinks are available to all, it also allows nonsubscribers to find interesting collections of URLs,which may—in turn—encourage them to buy the PDF articles from InfoCentral or even subscribe tothe magazine. In 2008, we also plan to embark on creating a Google Custom Search Engine builtaround links from past Internet Express columns, which should also increase visibility of the magazineand its PDF articles. These changes reflect our continued commitment to keeping up with evolvinginformation demands, as our readers crave content from us in all forms.

In 2008, Peggy Garvin joins Searcher, with “The Government Online” column covering databases sup-plied from government Web sites as well as those enhanced by private sector online outlets.

Searcher magazine is an excellent outlet to reach dedicated Web researchers, database professionals, and librarians.

We look forward to being a major part of your marketing plans this year. If you have anyquestions about our readership, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Best,

Barbara QuintEditor, Searcher magazine(310) [email protected]
