Dear Brothers,
The Omicron Deuteron Charge of Delta Chi continues to thrive. 11 West
Wheelock Street remains a place where Dartmouth men learn about
responsibility, loyalty, independent living, social skills and leadership.
While the goals and values of our fraternity are timeless, times change and
we are always seeking to improve. We are particularly excited about the
addition of a new faculty advisor, Professor Kendall Hoyt (see below).
Other changes will be occurring as a result of President Hanlon's "Moving
Dartmouth Forward" initiative. In particular, the College now prohibits the
possession and consumption of hard alcohol in College recognized
fraternities. When you return to campus please do not bring hard alcohol
into the house.
As always, Omie Deut needs your help to remain vibrant. We need our
alumni to not only contribute but also to serve on the board, participate in
events, and to help with programming at the house. Please contact me if you
are willing to help.
We look forward to seeing you at the annual corporation meeting, at
reunions (see left) or whenever you return to campus.
In the bonds,
Jim Calmas '84
Corporation President
New Faculty Advisor
Over the winter, the house welcomed a new female advisor,
Kendall Hoyt, a professor at the medical school and lecturer at
the engineering school. Kendall will join brothers Tom
Naughton '89 and Geoff Colla '04 in providing advice and
counsel to the undergrads.
Dear Brothers,
We hope you and your families are doing well. We enjoyed seeing a strong contingent of alumni back
at the house for Homecoming and Winter Carnival Pig Roasts – both of which were massive successes.
Since the sanctions from last fall were lifted, the state of the house has been strong and continues to
grow stronger. Our new members have done a fantastic job of fulfilling their duties as brothers and
have played a large role in maintaining the spirit and safety of the house. High praise is also in order
for the officers in the Class of 2015, who persevered and showed great leadership and vision during
their time in executive positions. During a time in which the Greek System is under intense scrutiny,
the house has needed and has truly appreciated the attention to detail shown by the Class of 2015 in
regards to the day-to-day (and night-to-night) operations of the house.

Letter from the Undergrads
While the weather in Hanover was at times miserably
cold and gloomy this winter, the Lodgeboys continued
to pursue excellence in all of their pursuits. The
basketball team, which boasts 5 Lodgeboys, (Tommy
Carpenter ’16, Connor Boehm ’16, Eli Harrison ’17, Ike
Ngwudo ’17 and Wesley Dickinson ’17) posted its first
.500 record since the ’98-’99 season and played in their
first postseason tournament in 56 years. Tommy
Carpenter, ’16 was awarded the Jon Dilorio ’56 Award
for hustle, drive and determination. The lacrosse team,
which is lead by more than 20 Lodgeboys, trained hard
throughout the winter under a new coach and saw their
efforts rewarded with an overtime win over #15
Harvard in their first Ivy League game during Spring
Break. Another interesting tidbit from the winter is that
four '17 Lodgeboys started their own business called
Blast Delivery, which allows more Hanover restaurants
to offer delivery services and also for more efficient
ordering services through an iPhone app. Lastly, the
winter saw Kevin Muzzi, ’16 Lodgeboy, win the
Interfraternity Council Programming Chair position.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you over
Green Key at our Pig Roast and many more of you
whenever you are able to make it back to the woods of
Hanover. Please stop by.

In late 2013, I began working on Twined. I
began with idea of building an eCommerce
platform that was primarily optimized for
customers rather than sellers. This concept
evolved into the platform that we’ve recently
completed and will be launching to the public
in early May. We improve our customers
shopping experience in two ways: first, by
providing the most thorough and credible
product reviews and recommendations from
trusted and independent experts; to make
informed decisions, customers need good
information. And second, we enable customers
to form groups to buy products at a discount;
using group purchasing power, our customers
can access discounts that are not available to
individuals.
My co-founder and I bootstrapped our first
prototype by the spring of 2014, and I had spent
a lot of time bouncing ideas off some of my
classmates (mostly guys who were in the
house). When we were ready to raise capital for
the first time, a couple of them wanted to hear
the pitch and as it turned out, two of my first
investors were Theta Delts. As a young founder,
it was a great source of pride and confidence
that the guys who knew me best were the first
ones to invest in Twined.

I opened my latest restaurant concept in
downtown San Diego this past December,
Double Standard Kitchenetta, with fellow TDX'er
Joshua Etzion '11. I tapped award-winning LID
Interiors to create an aesthetic of industrial and
natural themes in a nod to old meatpacking
houses with a combination of stainless steel,
reclaimed brick walls, and white marble.
Double Standard combines San Diego Americana
cuisine and Italian specialties with a comfortable,
yet modern open-air concept that brings the
indoors out. Chef Chris Gentile, a former
Cutthroat Kitchen winner, has created playful
interpretations of familiar dishes. The restaurant
has been rated as one of the Top 10 hottest new
dining destinations in San Diego by Zagat, and
continues to enjoy critical acclaim. The
restaurant marks my second Southern California
outpost, and joins InGenius Prep and Topliff Peak
Enterprises as one of my latest ventures.

Congratulations to David Brooks ‘16 on receiving the 2015 Theta Delta Chi Scholarship Award.
Dave is a Marine Veteran and active Dartmouth community member.
“Since coming to Dartmouth, being a member of the fraternity has been one of the highlights of my
time here. Currently, I am involved in Dartmouth Roots, a group of students who are selected their
junior year by the senior members. Juniors are selected by their demonstrated involvement in campus
issues, and as a group, Roots seeks to undertake projects that have an impact across campus, are
self‐sustaining and are relatively within our power to accomplish. (For example, sexual assault while
important is not an area we could understandably address). Roots created the website Improve
Dartmouth, an alternative freshman social space in the basement of Russell Sage and is currently
working on renovating Sarner Underground I am also one of the two social chairs at the fraternity, and
I am a senior staff writer in the Opinion section of The Dartmouth.
In the past, I have been the admission and outreach chair of the Dartmouth Undergraduate Veterans
Association, the secretary of Dartmouth’s Programming Board, and a member of Mentors Against
Violence, which seeks to educate student groups on issues relating to sexual assault. My freshman
year, I was elected cluster rep for the Student Assembly — Dartmouth’s campus government, and I
was awarded the best opinion writer by my editors at the Dartmouth.”
