The Little Lodge That Does Big Things!

gons November 2018 Brothers and Sisters, I was trying to think of something to write about this month. So I put out to my friends on Facebook the following question. What are you thankful for? The following are the responses I got back: “Heated seats, technology, not writing a newsletter (ha-ha), coffee, spouse, spending winters in Florida, hugs from my kiddos, humor of my family, community, great health, my life, I beat cancer, retiring, neighbors, love, seasons of change, sun rising each day, everybody, those in my life who have had cancer and are doing well, my hubby who’s putting up with me on this move, the company I work for and my coworkers, everything, advances in medicine, freedom, the opportunity to be whatever I want to be, for each day’s opportunities, my knowledge and the knowing I have so much to learn and be thankful for it all, family & friends and the one that reminds me why I do what I do - for you Hope - for all you have given our daughter, our family and the Bleeding Disorder community at large. My son being well taken care by your company.” Family (extended included) and friends were number 1 by far. I truly am thankful for my Elk family who keeps me smiling and embrace what Elkdom means to me. Freedom was one of the other things listed. I am very thankful for ALL of the military men and women who keep our land of liberty free. My family has many members who have been and now serve in our branches of military. November 11 th we take the time to celebrate and say thank you to our Veterans. Our annual dinner to celebrate Veterans and active military personnel will be held on Friday November 9 th from 5 to 7pm. We hope you will join us. On the 22 nd as you gather with family and friends to enjoy your Thanksgiving meal perhaps take a moment and have everyone say what they’re thankful for. I would love to hear what you get for responses. Fraternally, Hope Woodcock-Ross, Exalted Ruler Email: [email protected] Cell: 607-222-8412 Look throughout this newsletter for a membership number. The hour of eleven has tolled again; We pause, in our human endeavor

To renew our faith in the friendship of those Whose virtues stay with us forever.

With hearts full of hope and voices of cheer For an Elk is never forsaken,

We think kindly thoughts and speak tender words Of those whose place we have taken.

The hours speed by and the days turn to months. We cherish this brief retrospection;

The pages of time tell of memories dear In the book of fond recollection.

Whatever the task, be it large or small To lighten the burden of others;

Together we'll work and together we'll give A toast —"To our absent members."
