Music / Art Night in May On Tuesday, May 8
th, we had our Music/Art Night from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Under the
direction of Mr. Henderson and Mrs. Preston, students have been working for weeks to prepare for
this exciting night. Here is some of their artwork that was displayed in front of the office and along
the hallway. Music Night included selections from our junior band, senior band, and woodwinds
under the direction of Mr. Henderson; primary choir under the direction of Mrs. Griffin and Ms. Ip
and Intermediate Choir under the direction of Mrs. Wall. As always, we played to a full house.

Our Kindergarten students studied
how to save our sea creatures from eating garbage Rooms 119 and 120 have been working on and learning about our oceans. We have learned that
thousands of interesting animals live in our vast oceans. We have also learned that their home is
becoming overrun with garbage and plastic, leaving our ocean and fish sick and dying. These are the
very fish that we eat, and as such, the food that we ingest could also be contaminated. We are
becoming more aware of this problem and are trying to come up with more ways to reduce, reuse,
recycle, AND REFUSE! Say no to plastic when possible!

These are the creations the Kindies made as a
culminating task for our STEM unit on ocean
pollution. They designed prototypes for ocean
cleaning machines that would rid our oceans of
plastic like straws and plastic bags.
Dandelion fields Our students took an unexpected walk to the
dandelion fields where we enjoyed making
bouquets as well as picking up garbage. We also
thought it was a good idea to kick-start our non-
standard measurement unit by measuring each
other's height using dandelions! What fun!
