Preliminary statistics* indi- cate that ten people died in ten separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Feb. 20, through Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. Eight of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and four victims were not wear- ing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Bell, Clay, Grayson, Hardin (2), Mason, Rowan and Taylor counties. Two of the fatali- ties involved pedestrians and occurred in Floyd and Grayson counties. Through Feb. 26, 2012, preliminary statistics* indi- cate that 89 people have lost their lives on Kentucky road- ways during 2012. This is 1 less fatality than reported for the same time period in 2011. There have been 79 motor vehicle fatalities and 43 of those victims were not wearing seat belts. Eight of those crashes involved a com- mercial motor vehicle. Two crashes involved a motor- cycle and one victim was not wearing a helmet. Two crashes involved an ATV and one victim was not wearing a helmet. Six crashes involved a pedestrian. Fourteen deaths have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol. Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800- 222-5555. Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if pos- sible. *These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforce- ment agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas. Feb. 24 - Citizens National Bank of 149 W. Main Street reported three incidents of second- degree forgery occurred between Feb. 1 and 10. Three forged checks with a com- bined value of $1,300 had been written. - Michael Lancaster report- ed fourth-degree assault domestic violence occurred at 312 Deering Court. Minor injuries were reported, and no medical attention was needed. Feb. 26 - Odell Mattingly report- ed theft by unlawful taking under $500 occurred at 514 Malan Drive in Lebanon. A carton of Marlboro cigarettes, two packs of Bic lighters and miscellaneous tools were reported stolen. The com- bined value of those items was $82. - Three juvenile males ages 16, 14 and 11 were cited for second-degree criminal mis- chief at 108 N. Depot Street against Dunn Chrysler Dodge. Several vehicles received bro- ken windows, scratches and dents, causing $3,941.95 in damage. Feb. 28 - The Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle accident at 9:14 p.m. at 8000 St. Francis Highway in Loretto. Perjohan Persson, 36, of Lebanon was driving a 2011 Infinity. The accident occurred in a curve near Stringtown Road. Persson complained of back pain, but declined treatment at the scene, according to the dispatch report. Police Log Got a lead?
