Grow Yourself
To be a Great Leader, you must start with Yourself.
To develop others effectively, you must first develop yourself.
Otherwise, you may come across as hypocritical, instead of
mentoring. Shaping good behavior starts with role modeling and
will also sharpen your development skills.
This will encourage a foundation of trust.
This will build mutual respect between you and your peers.
This will broaden your knowledge in the field of
training and communications.

Growing New StaffThe Basic Function of a CTO
Phase 01Your new hire begins work, with little
or no training. They may be certified
or non-certified; regardless they do
not know the procedures and
functions of your department.
Phase 02The original hire is competent enough
to work independently and knows how
to perform all basic job functions.
Phase 03The original hire is independent and
willing to train others. The hire is now
a leader in your center
Your new hire! You begin training with your

Mentor-mentee Relationship
Mentor-mentee relationships are bound to develop when helping
employees grow and advance their skills. If that relationship can be
maintained, great. There’s no one better to learn leadership skills from than
the employer. If not, create a mentorship program where employees can
sharpen their skills with the help of more seasoned employees.
Mentorship programs are not only beneficial for assimilating new hires, but
they also serve as a great cross-training tool for current employees. Try
implementing a mentorship or job shadow program between team
members or departments. This leadership tool can improve both
organizational success and team performance by improving employees’
proficiency levels in roles outside of their own.
We must act as mentors. This helps build the next leaders.

Create New Leaders
Communicate Often.
If you want people to take on leadership
roles, communicate with transparency
and share information freely. Only when
they have information can employees
make sound decisions, achieve their
goals, reach their targets and step up to
their leadership roles.
Identify the RightPeople to do the
Right Things.
One of the best ways to empower people
is to recognize their talents and give them
jobs that feed their strengths. It begins
with having the right people—those who
can elevate themselves into leadership
roles via their competence and
capabilities—doing the right things and
gaining confidence along the way.
