Caleb was a Kenizzite, an Edomite, which means he was a descendent of Esau rather than Jacob (John Mark 2010). According to Numbers 13:6; 32: 12; Joshua 14: 6; 1 Chronicle 4: 13-15, Caleb is the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite. Sizer (n.d) “Caleb is not a Jewish.”

The dictionary define “trustworthy” a person who is reliable. In the case of Caleb this trait was visible in his life. He was a reliable person who did an honest report to Moses and to the congregation of Israel.

For Caleb the truth is truth, come what may? There is no compromising to the truth to appease and please the crowd. For him the truth and God’s will are never to compromise. That is how Caleb un-negotiable for the truth.

DecisiveCaleb was quick to decide to show where his stance, firm, and clear as a good leader, that in moment of crisis while others are indecision he already have given his precise opinion. In-decision for leaders in a given situation is a decision itself of inactivity of not getting involved.

No amount of honesty, bravery, courageous spirit, and skillfulness to go on war that make him great, but it was his wholehearted spirit to follow the Lord that made his great.

God’s Complements to CalebThe First Complement. The first complement of commendation that Caleb received was from the Lord declaring him a man of “different spirit who followed the Lord wholeheartedly” (Number 14:24).

The Second Complement. God said, “him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.”

Caleb the servant of God was portrayed a man of “different spirit” that God recognized it from the rest of the people of Israel at Exodus (Numbers 14:24).
