One of the key areas for discussion at this year’s Summit will be BIM (Building Information Modelling).“The UK programme based on the BIS BIM Strategy is currently the most ambitious and advanced centrally driven programme in the world. The UK has a window of opportunity to capitalise on the success of its domestic programme and to take on a global leadership role in BIM exploitation, BIM service provision and BIM standards development.”

Patrick MacLeamy - CEO of HOK

Thanks to the government’s BIM strategy, BIM has started to come into common use – but how can we be sure we’re reaping all its benefits?

The LCI-UK Summit 2014 will discuss how the powerful synergies between BIM and Lean can be used to boost the delivery of the Construction 2025 ambitions through:

• Eliminating waste and increasing value to the client• Accelerated and predictable delivery • Rather than just meeting the budget - delivering well below it!

Magnifying the power of Lean through BIM

Graeme Shaw is the Head of Transport for London’s Northern Line Extension, charged with building a new £1bn underground railway to Battersea Power Station. A Chartered Engineer and former Naval Officer, Graeme has served around the world, as well as on the teaching staff at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.

Since leaving the Royal Navy he has worked within the construction sector, both in an advisory role with PricewaterhouseCoopers, and as the delivery manager for a multitude of rail construction projects.

Previously, Graeme led an internal construction team within London Underground, delivering construction projects on 100 sites every night, and having to return each railway to operational use 3 hours after every shift started.

In his current role Graeme has overseen the concurrent running of a compressed ICE Invitation To Tender process and a Transports and Works Act application, a hitherto unattempted parallel effort with competing priorities.
