Words from Kitty “We would like to say a big thank you to all of our loyal customers and look forward to welcoming anyone who hasn't been here before!”

Chinese New YearEvery year Kitty is proud to offer a traditional style Chinese New Year feastincluding a ceremony outside and fireworks.

The Lantern House on Broomfield Road has been open for over 20 years and is run by Kitty and Steve. Having tried some of the dishes as a take-away I was keen to see the difference with eating in the restaurant.

This Chinese restaurant provides excellent cuisine from the Far East. The Lantern House offers many authentic Chinese dishes that are full of flavour. Kitty, whose family originally come from Hong Kong has travelled the world over the last 8 years and is now back full time in the restaurant. The welcoming smiles and pleasant nature keep the loyal customers returning time and time again. The restaurant is well decorated with bright white walls and traditional Chinese decoration, with a lovely water feature to the right of the restaurant to polish off the look.

Our table was just in the corner and perfect for an intimate meal for two. The staff recommended a few different dishes for us to try including their famous crispy aromatic duck, both the gourmet and seafood Hors D’oeuvers, sizzling king prawns, lemon chicken as well as some old favourites that we were keen to sample. We finished off with Chinese tea, chocolates and fortune cookies, which I always love. I was pleased to see that the menu for the restaurant is different to the normal take-away service, and even the dishes that I have had before seemed to taste so much better.

Next time you fancy going for some oriental cuisine, book yourself a table with The Lantern House!
