Incredible English 5 1 st Trimester Objecves Official Exam preparaon:

Trinity GESE 4 – Final year of prep Study skills for Cambridge KET

You must finish units 1, 2, and 3. You are also expected to do some Halloween and Christmas acvies in class As with all classes, there is a lot of informaon, skip anything that isn’t necessary (CLIL pages in each unit), as long as the students are preparing for Trinity GESE 4 & their trimester exams.

You will want to pracce these specific things from each unit, students need to pracce all areas of language: reading, wring, understanding (listening), and speaking.

The Starter Unit – The Incredible Team, Class book page 4 and Acvity book pages 2 & 3 are great acvies for the first few classes to get to know the students and pracce saying basic informaon and asking for informaon.

Extra notes from Unit 1:

- Concept Maps on Class book pages 10 & 11 and Acvity book page 10 are GREAT pracce for the topic poron of the Trinity exam. Students should do these exercises AND then create their own concept map with a topic of their choosing.

Trinity and other important concepts to work on throughout the trimester: • Always teach the (+) (-) (?) and short answer forms of each grammar point. • Work on wring a solid paragraph with a topic sentence. • Children will need to discuss different topics with the examiner, including one that they will

choose. It is to be a discussion not a presentaon and in no way should be wrien out or pracced as a presentaon. Discussions about topics should be somewhat improvisaonal, responding in the moment, asking and answering quesons such as:

• How oen do you…? • When did you…? • Are you going to…? • What was the best…? • Can you compare …and …?

Use topics that they might see in Trinity whenever you can in conversaon, this helps build confidence and widen vocabulary: shopping, food, school/work, hobbies/sports, weekend and seasonal acvies, holidays.

*Unit 9 talks about adventure sports. If me allows you can talk about this vocabulary and work on comparing the sports and acvies. However, you should not teach the present perfect grammar from Unit 9.
