Changes in our Leadership Roster at Lakeside We have recently had some changes in how our Council is structured. The Children’s Event Coordinator position has been converted to a Children’s Council. Cynthia Gage and Merle Hughes will be the co-chairs of this new Council designed to enhance the ministry provided to our children. Cynthia has been very ac-tive with the Children’s Sunday School class (actually founded our children’s instruction) and Merle has been the provider of fun activities for children here at Lakeside for a long time. The Council has started by changing the Sunday School curriculum. We previously had just one classroom for all ages. Now we will have two: Kindergarten through 5th Grade, and another class for 5th Grade and above. Please thank these ladies for their wonderful ministries at Lakeside.

It’s Time for an Old Fashioned Pounding October 13th at 12:30pm! Pastor Tolli & Frank have been with us since July, its time we properly welcomed them! We are having a “Pastor Pounding”, an old custom to welcome a new pastor and family into a congregation. The custom dates back to the original Quakers, by welcoming the new family with a pound of pantry staples. Additionally, the second Sunday of October is set aside as PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY and what a wonderful time for us to have our Pounding! This day celebrates the contributions of priests, pastors, rever-ends and ministers all over the US. It is a good thing to show our appreciation for our new pastor.

Here’s how we are going to do it: We will have a PICNIC AT THE PARSONAGE

with hamburgers and hot dogs. If you like, you can bring something that will help Pastor Tolli & Frank get to know the area—like a gift certificate, a promise to help with chores, even a pound of something for the pantry! There is a signup sheet in the kitchen for sides and stuff, take a look! ADDED BONUS: Merle Hughes is asking that everyone come over to her house afterwards for a 70th BIRTHDAY PARTY in her honor. Merle says that one of Avery’s last wishes was for her to do a big party celebrating her 70th birthday!

What a great day we will have!
