Post Summary: The English Teaching and Community Engagement Fellow at The Lab will be expected to work 20-25 hours a week with their main responsibility being teaching about 10-15 hours a week. In addition to teaching, the fellow is expected to further the mission of The Lab by building relations with the local community developing projects and facilitating events. The Lab is looking for a fellow who is not only interested in teaching English but also in helping contribute to their community space. They need someone with a wide range of skills, interests, and passions who is also interested in Vietnam. Partner: The Lab is part language center, part coee shop, but at the heart, a community center located in Vung Tau, Vietnam. It was started by four individuals who envisioned an environment where people could learn, build, and create together. Location: Vung Tau is a popular weekend escape from Ho Chi Minh City as it is only an hour and half away by bus. Many tourists come during the weekend, but it’s relatively quiet during the week. Oil is a big industry in Vung Tau due to its location on a peninsula, surrounded by ocean on three sides. It’s a nice place to be for those who like a small beach city with a couple of mountains to hike. Housing: The Lab will provide housing for the VIA fellow; typically this is a room in a larger house where most other members of The Lab also live.
