Our community PBS member station, KNPB, serving northern Nevada and northeastern California, is proud to take part in the KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest.
Few things can capture a child’s imagination like a good book. KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest invites children, kindergarten through third grade, in communities across our area to use their boundless imaginations to create original stories and illustrations and then submit them to their local PBS station. This year, more than a thousand children from northern Nevada and northeastern California participated in the KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest, building their creative voices, and developing critical reading and writing skills.
Visit our website at knpb.org/writerscontest to find out more about the contest, read the winning stories and watch the winners announce their stories.

“The Enchanted Forest” by Hannah
Brookfield Elementary School
One day in the Enchanted Forest there
were fairies playing.
Then dinosaurs came to the Enchanted Forest.
The dinosaurs wanted to live in the forest,
so they threw rocks at the fairies to squish them.
They took the flat fairies out of the forest.
Another fairy that lived near by, came to help
the fairies.
She used a spell to unsquish them.
The fairies came to life and said, “That was
amazing!”
The fairies went back home.
The dinosaurs decided they could share the Enchanted Forest.
