We attended the 10 a.m. mass as a group and following the mass we gathered at Monsignor Bily’s Grave in the Cemetery not too far from the Church. We said a Rosary in his honor, and then we headed in the direction of the Hall for a delicious meal of Beef Stew and Fried Chicken with delicious sides, plus dessert. After eating our fill we went outside to the covered Pavilion where the Ompah music and dancing was warming up. (As if it wasn’t warm enough already!) The folks were having a great time as they do every year. We checked out some of the other activities for a while and then we headed for home to start getting ready for the Festival next year. Deacon Ben Wehman, a Brother Knight and Past Grand Knight has graciously accepted the Chaplain Position in our Council previously held by Father Kris. It is an honor to welcome Deacon Ben as our Spiritual Leader. We have filled several other vacancies in the Council leadership ranks. Brother Knight Dr. Bob Stewart is our new Membership Director, and Brother John Walter is our new Assistant Treasurer. Thank you for stepping up gentlemen, I know you will do a great job. We’re planning construction of a new Nativity scene for Christmas with guidance from Deacon Fred Fey since he has built about three of them. Christmas is just around the corner! We’ll be gearing up for Wurstfest parking before long, so guys be thinking about which days and nights you want to work. This is our biggest fundraiser for the charities we support and don’t forget about our annual Knight with a Seminarian Banquet on February 29, 2020 which raises money to support our future priests in our Archdiocese. May God shower you with his abundant Blessings! Faithful Navigator FN William Villegas We have had a very busy last three months. Officers and directors attended a strategic planning session on July 30th where they worked out a budget as well as patriotic activities. We will be participating in the Comal County Fair parade on September 27 th . In order to be in place for the parade start those members who wish to participate need to show up at 8 a.m. to be in place at the parade start route. Faithful Navigator (continued) Our September social-dinner is scheduled for September 10th at 6:30 p.m. We will have a hasty meeting prior to our meal in order to approve the budget for our assembly.

The next 4th Degree Exemplification in the San Antonio area will be at JBSA Gateway Club, Lackland AFB on February 8, 2010. Contact FN Will Villegas or FC Frank Piletere for more information.

Columbus Club President Tommie Daum The Columbus Club is currently looking for an Operations Manager for the Hall. If a Brother Knight is interested please call either Tommy Daum at 830 708 7804 or David Schlageter at 512-557-7535 for further information. Faith Activities Kevin Stancik About 10 -15 Knights and spouses traveled to Praha, Texas August 15th on the Feast of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. Saint Mary’s Parish in Praha has their annual Church Festival/Picnic on this same date every year. We listened to a beautiful Rosary said in Czech prior to the 10:00 a.m. Mass. The Celebrant was the retired Bishop from Victoria. Mass was in English but songs were sung in Czech. After Mass, we went to the Church Cemetery and recited the Rosary at Monsignor Bily’s Grave. Praha is Monsignor Bily’s home parish--he was a Parochial Vicar at Saints Peter and Paul some years back, and was the Chaplain of the Council and Assembly for years. After the Rosary we enjoyed a delicious meal of fried chicken and stew and returned home.

Upcoming Major Degree News The Council has scheduled a Major Degree for Saturday, October 26, at the Columbus Club Hall. If you are a First Degree member, this is a good time to become a Third Degree Knight. There is no cost to you! Registration is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mass we be at 8:00 a.m. The Degree starts around 10:00 a.m. We’ll serve food after the Degree. Also, if you are a 3rd Degree Knight and haven’t been to a Major Degree in a while, come join us. It’s nice to have guests attend to support these men. If you want to help with setting up the hall and registration, cooking and/or cleaning or bring a dessert, please contact Council Activities Director Jerome Pavliska by email at [email protected] or call him at (830) 832-2886.
