It is called the Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. The new Ceremony will be open to family members and anyone else who wishes to attend. The secret portions of the old First Degree Ceremony are gone; there is a totally new script with emphasis on presenting the lessons of Charity, Unity, and Fraternalism in a more convincing way. We are in the process of training our team members and we plan to start implementing this new program in early March of this year. New members attending this Ceremonial will attain the rank of Third Degree and no other Major Degree is required. The ceremony was designed to be performed in a Church setting with a large audience. It may be conducted in a dignified and solemn manner as best determined by the Grand Knight and Council Officers in cooperation with the District Deputy. There will be more information forthcoming, and I encourage families and members to attend the new Ceremonials whenever possible. Our Lenten Fish Fry is continuing every Friday of Lent except Good Friday, and I ask that you continue your support by volunteering your time and furnishing those delicious desserts. Theresa is asking that people deliver desserts no later than noon on the day of Fish Fries rather than waiting until 4 p.m. as in the past. Volunteers start cutting up desserts at 2:00 p.m. and 450-500 slices are to be prepared and ready when the Fish Meal is served. There will be a sign up board in the Meeting Room, and we will use Sign up Genius as well. The menu will be fish, green beans or pinto beans (alternated weekly), coleslaw, hush puppies, dessert and drink. Dinners will be $10.00 as approved by the board. All those who volunteer that want to eat before 7:00 p.m., will need to pay $10.00 for a plate; otherwise all volunteers need to wait until after 7:00 p.m. to eat. There will not be any eating on the serving line this year. More dishwashers are always needed! As always thanks for your support and dedication to our Council. Tell your friends and neighbors, EAT MORE FISH!! God’s Blessings to all! Faithful Navigator FN William Villegas Many thanks to the Assembly Color Corps (Sir Knights Mike Molidor, George Rayhons, Jaime Gonzales, Ron Castellano, Homero Ruiz-Perez, John Malek and Clemente Leal) for supporting the 4th Degree Exemplification hosted at the JBSA-Lackland AFB. We had 17 candidates from Assembly 1791, and an overall 73 candidates throughout Texas advance to the 4th Degree Patriotic Order. We had 200 personnel attend the event with the ladies’ luncheon at 37 attendees. Many thanks to Major General Brady for being the honoree at the exemplification and key note speaker at the banquet. Kudos to the newest Sir Knights. It is my pleasure to announce the 4 th Degree Sir Knight of Month for January 2020 is SK Jaime P. Gonzales for all his support to the assembly and council at large. He is there at almost every event taking pictures and supporting the venues with his personal involvement. (1) Faithful Navigator (continued)

As of today, we are still accepting the 2020 member dues. Please check your email accounts and junk/spam folder to ensure you have received the notification. To expedite the 2020 membership dues payment process, please mail-in your personal check or money order ($24.00) to: WILLIAM L. CHILDS, P.O. BOX 310628, NEW BRAUNFELS TX 78131. We will continue to hand out member cards at all future business meetings. Finally, we continue to pray for the Sir Knights, Brothers and their family that are struggling with illness. We hope and pray they get on the mend. To the fallen, we pray for the repose of their souls. Vivat Jesus!

Financial Secretary FS Don Volz Thanks to all who have paid their 2020 membership dues.  Sadly, as of February 16, seventy-five (75) of you have not yet paid your dues.  If you are one of the 75, please make your dues payment ASAP at any council meeting or Monday night bingo, or by mail to me at 1015 MERIDIAN DR, NEW BRAUNFELS, TX 78132-4414.  We accept cash, checks or money orders payable to K of C Council 4183.  Dues are $40 for Regular members and $10 for Honorary members. Honorary Life members do not pay dues.  The Council's Retention Committee will soon begin making personal calls to unpaid members to learn how the Council can work with them to resolve the membership/payment issue.  Please spare your brother knights that time and effort by making your dues payment as soon as you can.

Columbus Club Association SK David Schalageter, President We are in the process of improving the hall interior with several projects and are asking for help from our Brother Knights, Scout units, American Heritage Girls, Sts. Peter and Paul school and John Paul II High School that need service hours. Currently we have volunteers replacing soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers in the bathrooms, we are replacing toilets in the men’s and women’s restrooms, installing lock boxes and re-keying exterior doors, and we have a contractor hired who is painting the meeting room, replacing base boards, and painting the ceiling.

Exterior projects include mowing our grounds, trimming weeds near our A/C units, weeding flower beds, trimming shrubs, power washing all entrance landing areas, adjusting cleat on flag pole to a lower position, moving pavers from barn to ten commandments area, installing security cameras, cleaning out barn, general maintenance and recycling steel crosses which have been stored by the railroad tracks.

Anyone interested in volunteering are requested to bring work gloves, gardening tools, line trimmers, small mower, pruners and anything else that is handy. Please bring yourself and any one that can help. We are making many improvements to your hall and getting ready for Knights with the Seminarians dinner and our Lenten Fish Fries.  We are soliciting input for our 5 year master plan as well.

Retreat at Mission of Divine Mercy Over 40 brother Knights and their spouses attended the MDM Morning Retreat on Feb 1st from 8a.m. to 1p.m. The retreat began with 8 a.m. Mass in St Joseph’s chapel followed by breakfast in the O’Callahan center. Next Br. Mikael gave a talk on Catholic Eschatology focusing on the search for the Antichrist through the ages. GK Tony presented a $500 donation to Fr. John Mary before the talk. We then headed back up to St. Joseph’s chapel for a guided meditation led by Sister Amapola on how to have a true conversation with God. Our group then headed outside to pray the Rosary on the outdoor beads. We ended the retreat by reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet. This event is part of our Faith in Action Spiritual Reflection program. Our 2nd annual retreat that continues to grow in participation with all attendees experienced a great spiritual uplifting!
