Chaplain Corner:

A PEACEFUL TREE

People ask me, “How do you like your new place?” Surprisingly well, I say. In the process of making my decision, the Lord said, I will help you leave your home in the woods. Then what will I have? He whispered quite loudly in my ear: I will give you peace. And in-deed he has.

My childhood home is in western Minnesota, two miles from the South Dakota border. It is prairie, windy and no trees. For the past fifty plus years I enjoyed a home surrounded by trees , over looking a valley.

Trees needed to be cut down making room for a driveway, down hill ski run, a house and garden. Now I think twice before cutting down a tree.

Even though there are hundreds of trees in a timber lot, yet each one is different. No two trees are the same. The beauty of God is reflected in a tree dressed in autumn colors. From its roots to the end of each leaf, nourishing sap juices provide life. A tree grows to maturity in patience and silence, never moving to another piece of ground. In winter we see and admire the strength of each trunk and branches.

I harvested many trees, laying the trunk on a table, platform, of a small hobby saw mill. After cutting off slabs from four sides there remained a prized square ready to be cut into ruff lumber boards.

Here is where I make my lesson of how a tree can help us attain peace in our lives. Notice how a tree from beginning to end allows outside powers and influences for its growth. Like dirt, water, wind, sun, etc.

The squared log lays on the saw mill table, patiently awaiting to be made into ruff lumber. It obediently becomes a new form of life. It enters into a planer becoming proud to show off its smooth grain and decorated surface. Now it is ready to become furniture, patiently pre-sent and visible for others to enjoy.

We seek and pray for peace in our lives. Jesus says, Peace I give you. It is a gift. Be patient. Let God be the giver. We do not manufacture

peace by ourselves. Like a little child we are happy and at peace in the arms of our father and mother. A tree is at peace be-cause God provides all it needs.

Supreme Chaplain Challenge

When having discussions with people (especially your family members), give them your undivided attention and do not look at your cell phones during the conversations. I also challenge you to honestly attempt to answer Jesus’ question “What do you want me to do for you?”

Officers Report Chaplain – Fr. Rademacher Father highlighted comments from his article in the Graphic. Noted we need to put ourselves in God’s hands and that God will take care of us. The abuse has raised questions in all of us as to what our feelings are. Is it being upset, confused, angry, or that a trust has been broken. Are we going to trust in God and more forward or are we stepping away. Put your trust in God and pray for our priest.

Help with the Special Needs Bowling tournament in Mankato at the WOW Zone December 1 & 2.

Keith Marti – Life, and Br. Gary Neubauer – Family. In each category are 3 to 4 requirements to complete and as we understand the requirements we will be asking for help in meeting the requirements and many will be activities we already do. More involvements of membership will be needed to complete these requirements so watch of the activities list and consider where you could help on one. Family activity is the Mass on the Feast of the Holy Family which is the Sunday after Christmas, and we will have prayer card to hand out the Sunday prior to meet the requirements.
