I speak for our entire family, Renee, Steven, Rachel, and myself, as we always desire to represent "the family" in this great Fellowship, in thanking you for the humbling expression of support in electing us on the Nominating Ballot to a third term as the Kentucky Ministry Network District Superintendent. We very much consider it our calling. And, pray that in our genuine efforts for support of you, our pastors, ministers, missionaries around the world, evangelists, educators and local churches, that many might find the power of the Cross. Thank you, again, for the privilege to cast vision, lead, serve and represent you, the great Kentucky Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God. There is something very special that is tangibly noticed when we meet together joining in unity as a part of this powerful Cooperative Fellowship. Let's never lose that as we honor Christ in all we say and do.

May He find us faithful,

The church board (Shane Power, Dallas Keith and Gary Perkins) and the

worship team at Hesler A/G in Owenton. It was a

pleasure to minister at Hesler A/G while they are

searching for a new pastor.

No Signs Allowed

Wouldn’t life be great if no signs were allowed? Driving on interstates and highways would be a lot more engaging if we didn’t have those nuisance signs interfering with our travels. No sign saying, “One Way,” or “Stop,” or “Yield,” or “Speed Limit.” No sign telling us which town we are approaching, or where the gas station, rest area, hotel and restaurants are. No sign telling us which turn to make to stay on course and reach our destination. This would especially be helpful during rush hour traffic when there are so many people on the road. We wouldn’t want to confuse all of those people with intrusive signage. And how about signs in malls and buildings? Wouldn’t it be great to not have to be offended by signs that say, “Women’s Restroom,” or “Men’s Restroom,” or “Private,” or, “Elevators This Way?” Yeah, life without signs would be a lot less offensive and confusing.

Sadly, some pastors have decided to make church a ‘Sign-Free-Zone,’ by restraining the use of spiritual gifts in the church; which is contrary God’s directive (1 Cor. 14:39). This confuses me because God has designed signs to alert people to His abiding presence in the congregation (1 Cor. 14:22). These signs provide comfort, encouragement, wisdom, knowledge, and healing to hurting and spiritually hungry people who are intersecting the church along their life’s journey (1 Cor. 14:3-4). God has designed His signs (spiritual gifts) to benefit and edify everyone, saint and sinner alike, faithful church member as well as the seeking visitor (1 Cor. 12:7; 14:3-5, 22-25).

To be sure, we should be careful to display the right signs (1 Cor. 14:32-33, 40). No one wants to make a wrong turn, or walk into the wrong restroom. And we should make sure that signs are worded correctly. We don’t want to confuse people. However, we cannot help it if someone miss-reads a sign. But, we should not take down the signs just because some people don’t read signs well (1 Cor. 14:39). The proper display of spiritual signage results in people being convinced of God’s reality, convicted of their need for Him, and converted to faith in Christ and encouraged in the Lord (1 Cor. 14:22-31). This is all especially true on Sunday morning (religious rush hour) when so many more people come through our church doors on their way to find God and receive direction and encouragement from Him.

Sunday, May 27th is Pentecost Sunday. You

may want to be sure that you have put up all the right signs.

I enjoyed ministering at Bethesda A/G in

Vanceburg where Ben & Leslie Collier pastor.

Money Matter$ in Ministry

God puts a priority on faithfulness. He is not so concerned with how much money we earn, or give, or tithe. However, He is very

concerned with how faithful we are with what we have; how we earn our money, why we give, and if we pay His tithes faithfully. No one is too poor to be faithful with what they have. Jesus said it this way, He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. You cannot

serve two masters. You cannot serve God and money. (Luke 16:10-13)

We reveal who our Master is by how faithful we are with the money and other resources that God entrusts to us. To be faithful means that God can always rely on us to handle our money in ways that honor

and please Him. If we are faithful, to the Lord with what He has given us, we reveal that He is indeed our Master. If we are not faithful to God with what He entrusts to us, then we reveal that

money is our master. Money is a wonderful servant, but a horrible master. When it comes to Money Matter$ in Ministry, faithfulness

matters to God.

Our  speaker  for  the  conference  is  Dr.  Andrew  Templeton.    Dr.  Templeton  has  a  passion  to  see  men reach  their  fullest  poten9al  through  Christ  and  to  experience  a  true  life  change.  He  serves as  Lead  Pastor  at  First  Assembly  in  Sweetwater,  TN.  In  addi9on  to  lead  pastor,  Dr.  Andrew  is  an  adjunct professor  for  Lee  University,  the  execu9ve  V.P.  for  Champions  of  Honor,  and  a  cer9fied  coach  for leaders/pastors.    He  is  married  to  Rachel  and  they  have  two  wonderful  children.  With his anointed messages, I promise you…you won’t be disappointed. Our conference promises to be dynamic, relevant and life changing. Our speakers and workshops will leave our men feeling empowered and filled with a sense of purpose. They will walk away with a passion to live out all that God has for them.

Workshop  #1:    Marriage  &  rela*onships            Workshop  #2:    Money  &  Finances              Workshop  #3:    Fathers              Workshop  #4:    Men  &  Ethics

Please see the ad below for more details.

GET STARTED: Creating an environment for men

1. Let men meet in male-only settings.Developing strong, godly men is best accomplished in settings where men can be honest, open and transparent with themselves and one another.

2. Make a man think.Men are thinkers. They ponder and meditate. While woman use emotions and intellect simultaneously, men tend to use only one at a time.

3. Affirm men in their manhood.Men need to be affirmed. One of the most devastating attacks on the body of Christ today is the lack of affirmation of manhood. A father affirms the masculinity in his sons and the femininity of his daughters. What is often missing in the family is to have the man look his son in the eyes and tell him, “I love you and respect you. You are a man.”

4. Consistently challenge men.Once men are adequately affirmed, they must be consistently challenged. Men must be challenged to change their way of life in light of Scripture. Men are by nature competitive. They are looking for the next mountain to climb and conquer.

5. Do not expect too much too soon.Men do not come to church in a totally sanctified state. Men must be taken through a process of maturing in Christ one step at a time. If we raise the bar too high, men will become discouraged and disillusioned. If we place the bar too low, we will encourage them to live in mediocrity and beneath the standard God has set for them.

6. Honestly present a strong, male image. The challenge to church leadership is to present themselves as strong, spiritual male images both inside and outside the church. The leaders of the church must be about the Master’s business. When men see godly male leadership lived out before them day after day, it acts like a magnet. We must be careful to present to our men an accurate image of Christ in everything we say and do.

Church Planting & Revitalization

Priscilla's  Place  Purchases  New  Property!

A"er  many  months  and  much  prayer,  Teen  Challenge

of  Kentucky  has  purchased  a  new

facility  to  expand  the  Priscilla's  Place

women's  recovery  program!  The

new  building  is  next  door  to  the  current

building  and  will  provide  space  for  classrooms,  staff  housing  and  the  Teen  Challenge  State  Office.  The  current  building  will  be  used

exclusively  for  dormitories.  Currently  Priscilla's  Place  can

minister  to  15  women  at  a  Ime.

Church Planting and Revitalization takes a great deal of ongoing energy and work. I was 29 years old when I started the Christ’s Chapel journey and I’m convinced that hard work, at least in part, is how we survived all the hurdles that came our way. Certainly, the favor of God and anointing of the Holy Spirit are the real champions of any sustainable impact and success in ministry. And yet, it’s impossible to move forward with numerical growth and measurable, impactful discipleship without being willing to work long hours.

But an equally important component for long lasting ministry is to have individuals come along beside you for encouragement and insight. I have been fortunate to have those gifts come my way in relationships established many years ago that continue to speak into my life, new friends that emerge outside our local church that emerge out of our ministry network, as well as the deepening treasure that exists among the staff that I serve with in our church. I am frequently reminded of this truth as those I serve with on a weekly basis share insights and suggestions that improve the overall impact we have week-to-week.

All that said, I realize that for many of our pastors and ministers across the state of Kentucky, we feel isolated and cut off from any real connections that can offer some of the encouragement and life-giving sources desperately needed. We either don’t have any staff or the bi-vocational challenges prevent the time necessary to pursue assistance from others. My position as CPR director provides a platform for me to at least in theory offer friendship, encouragement and insights to our pastors and churches from someone who is walking a similar journey in my own church. If you are looking for a friend in ministry who will pray with you and perhaps share an insight or suggestion that has helped in my journey, I would be glad to offer some assistance. If I can help you in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

A"er  renovaIons  are  complete,  Priscilla's  Place  will  expand  to  offer  services  to  25  women  at  a  7me!  We  will  need  lots  of  help  to

get  this  new  building  ready  for  use.  If  you  would  like  to  help,  please  contact  our  renovaIon  Project

WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAD AT DISTRICT COUNCIL LAST MONTH. MY FIRST COUNCIL AS THE NEW WOMEN’S DIRECTOR WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. IT WAS SO NICE TO SEE ALL OF MARY JANE’S FAMILY AND FRIENDS AT OUR LUNCHEON TO HELP US HONOR HER FOR 35 WONDERFUL YEARS OF MINISTRY. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED AND TO THE WONDERFUL TEAM OF LEADERS WHO HELPED MAKE THE LUNCHEON SUCH A HUGE SUCCESS. I KNOW IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT YOU.

WITH COUNCIL BEHIND US, THERE IS NO TIME TO SLOW DOWN. WE ARE GETTING GEARED UP FOR SUMMER RETREAT. THIS YEAR IS SURE TO BE AN ENCOUNTER YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS. MAKE PLANS NOW TO ATTEND AND BRING YOUR ENTIRE LADIES GROUP. OUR GUEST SPEAKER THIS YEAR IS REV. SUZANNE COX FROM ALABAMA. SHE IS SURE TO BLESS AND MINISTER TO YOUR ENTIRE GROUP. IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE YOUR PROMO PACKAGE WITH POSTERS, SIGN UP SHEETS AND A DVD, BE SURE AND CONTACT ME SO I CAN GET IT IN THE MAIL TODAY. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME. BE SURE AND ENCOURAGE YOUR TEENS AND YOUNGER LADIES TO ATTEND, WE WILL BE HAVING A SPECIAL BREAKOUT SESSION JUST FOR THEM WITH SUZANNE. AS ALWAYS, LET LOVE BE REVEALED IN YOUR HEART, YOUR LIVES AND YOUR MINISTRIES.

EXPECTING GREAT THINGS,SHARON
