A bunch of people doing crazy dances in suits? That must be an official part of an EYP session. And indeed, after a short morning of teambuilding, the participants of Czech NSC gathered on the town square of Pilsen in order to take part in the corner stone of any session: the Opening Ceremony. Czech authorities and sponsors stressed in their speeches the role of dialogue and discussion among adolescents. Delegates seemed a little bit overwhelmed with the event, although their attitude could also be

described as interested and intrigued. The councillor of Pilsen made a pleasant surprise with a first speech in Sheakspearian language. Then the floor was given our two wonderful blonde heroes of our session – Beata made a speech on behalf of Matej Kratochvil (the president of EYP CZ), and Ema welcomed everyone on behalf of the organizers. But the final speech was the one everyone were waiting for. And trust me, it was worth waiting. Stamos adressed delegates in a very motivating manner, using his

veterinarty knowledge and appeal. Who could have dreamed of hearing phrases such as “feces”, “parasites” and “Ditrocoelium dendriticum” on an official EYP event? It was reality and it was 100% Stamos. After some technical problems the crowd simply hummed the European Anthem and the 13th National Selection Conference of EYP Czech Republic in Pilsen was officialy opened. It was the begin of a feeling that we are taking part in something really exclusive.

Saturday afternoon, 17:00, we had the amazing opportunity to have a chat with the leaders of the team preparing the project European Capi-tal of Culture Pilsen 2015. Our guests were Milan Svoboda, the director of the entire project and Marcela Kre-jsová, local representative of Pilsen. Both speakers explained us the rea-sons and the consequences of the upcoming event and they seemed pretty psyched about it – their enthu-siasm made all the people listen very carefully and also take part in the dis-cussion.

„Everyone thinks there will be a mas-sive party in 2015“, says Milan Svobo-da, „and they are totally right. But it is not just about that.“ Their vision looks clear – they want to change the atti-tude of local citizens and make them proud of their hometown . It will be achieved by creating a place for in-novation. „Open up“ is one of the mottos – meaning to develop various values such as promoting tolerance, sharing ideas and intercultural dia-logue. It goes hand in hand with „We are more“, a motivation for the art-ists taking part in the culture industry. „Culture is like air or water. We value it only if we don’t have it,” remarks Marcela Krejsová.

The idea of applying for the European Capital of Culture was an easy choice since the proposing team had already

decided to change the local culture life before. But still, after all the hard work during preparations, no one really believed Pilsen would get the chance to represent the Czech Re-public since the expected city was Ostrava. „At first, it looked like we were going to be the only competi-tors, but that would be boring,“ com-ments Mrs. Krejsová. Their rivals, sup-ported by the coal mining and steel producing industrial corporations and by the vast majority of public, did not concentrate enough during the project presentation and invested too much energy into just one project, whereas Pilsen offered a huge variety of possibilities to improve the culture and the living environment of their citizens. So finally, 1. FC Viktoria Plzeň beat FC Baník Ostrava to the ground.Pilsen also got selected thanks to the wise preparation – the director with his team of 20 people visited several other European Capitals of Culture to get some inspiration on what and what not to do – including Linz, Lille

and Pécs. Even Bob Scott, the Presi-dent of the Selection Panel and the one responsible for Liverpool ECC, was astonished by the quality and range of ideas on how to connect with Europe and involve local com-munity at the same time.

These smaller initiatives included Shakesbeer’s “To beer or not to beer”, Guardian Angel (guarding our ideas), Bank of Creative Capital or the Day of Europe (12/6) on behalf of Melina Mercouri. The organisers even ex-pect to send so-called „ambassadors“ all over the Czech Republic to pro-mote these events and the values they bear.

The message of the speakers was transmitted to all the delegates - the candle must not extinct, and we have to preserve the life of the fire. Therefore, young Europeans of the future, spread the word: Pilsen 2015 is coming!

Was it merely coincidental that the session T-shirts also happened to be pink, or is there a solid reason behind the domination of the colour pink? According to head organiser Beata, the idea was inspired by her co-HO Ema’s recent birthday party, which was themed “blonde”. Another contributing fact is the colour of the session logo being pink. In any case, EYP Czech Republic should be congratulated on their clever strategy to boost up their session T-shirt sales.

With full stomachs, participants didn’t seem to be in the mood to go crazy. The dance floor was empty, the music was quiet and dull and the bartender sold some lonely beers. With the discovery of the internet access behind the bar, the YouTube got party started. The variety of songs ranged from Disco Pogo to popular ballades and fi-nally Scottish Techno. The podium

offered the perfect opportunity for courageous individuals to show off their moves. Meanwhile, ta-ble soccer and pool billiard on the far corner also attracted attention. People soon separated into play-ers, cheerleaders and spectators, creating an atmosphere compara-ble to the one at a Czech hockey championship.

So, let’s explore how the delegates interpreted the theme. Starting with Martin from INTA who confessed that the sole purpose behind wearing a pink bra was to spice up the party and have a little fun, a goal he obviously achieved. It should be mentioned that although he was wearing an A cup, his regular size is a C. On another note, Julia from CULT took the dressing up to a whole new level by wearing a brown wig and a big bow, standing out with her exclusive taste in fashion. We also spotted bunny ears, soccer outfits and several guys who had confused their suitcases with those of their female room mates.

The night of the pink party was also a night to remember for the officials team, who took the

chance to relax and “shake it like a Polaroid picture”. Michal Korzonek and president Stamos, blew off some steam on the dance floor. Well-known for their boldness at showing off their unconventional dance technique, they were the cause of some excitement on the dance floor. Niall Murphy took a more chilled approach and entertained a bunch of the attendees by singing Irish folk songs accompanied by his Bodhrán, or Irish drum.

A murmur of disappointment echoed over the dance floor when the crowd realised that the lights had been turned on and the energising YouTube playlist had to come to an abrupt end. Although the venue emptied quickly after that, the party wasn’t nearly over: who needs a bar and a dance floor to have some after-hour fun when you are surrounded by EYPers?

Remember by what means Justin Bieber became legendary, to the point that after two years of fame his movie “Never Say Never” outdoes Michael Jackson’s “This is it”? Discovered initially on YouTube, then supported by famous names such as Usher and eventually rapping along Ludacris: Justin Bieber became a cult with a blink of the eye.

As the sun sets and rises again, a new teenage star is born. As these words are typed, Rebecca Black’s clip “Friday” is watched by its 53,809,965th viewer on YouTube. By the time you’ll be holding these newspapers, that number

will undoubtedly exceed 54,000,000. One one hand, Chris Brown has already declared that he thought the song was catchy: “Honest opinion, I’m never a hater, I thought was great, I liked it, Imma be jamming to it on Friday”. On the other, she has Lady GaGa’s confirmation: “I say Rebecca Black is a genius and anyone telling her she’s cheesy is full of it”

The single is already on iTunes, needless to say. In fact, she already has more than 200.000 iTunes downloads. She has been interviewed on Good Morning America, performed on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno ,

where she declared she would give all the money she had made to Japan and to her school. ‘All the money’ being $24,900 per week. The YouTube Sensation Rebecca Black’s much-maligned song “Friday” is about a bunch of friends getting ready for a ball in the evening and reciting how happy they all are because “Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday, Today i-is Friday, Friday” and “Gotta get down on Friday, Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend”

At the same time, she’s in a conflict as to which seat she should take: Kickin’ in the front seat, Sittin’ in the back seat , Gotta make my mind up”.

Indeed, some are calling the 13-year-old signed singer “the Next Justin Bieber for her catchy ditty and pop vocals, while others hail “Friday” as the “worst song ever”. As a result, her music video inevitably became an internet sensation with many trying to recreate her songs. Thus, the creative covers are abounding on YouTube, the most famous of them all being A very well-executed Bob Dylanesque parody of the song. Of course, ‘haters gonna hate’: her official clip on YouTube moreover receives 10-15 hate comments every single second. Comments include “Rebecca.. if you win an award.. Get ready for Kanye”. Even Justin Bieber himself has teased her song, saying: “Sunday comes after Saturday? Weird”.

Is the world ready for its second Justin Bieber? Can we handle it? One thing for sure, Rebecca Smith acts as a spokesman for the participants of the session: “I don’t want this weekend to end”.

She declared she would give all the money she had made to Japan and to her school. ‘All the money’ being $24,900 per week.

Yeah, ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ark, oo-ooh-ooh, hoo yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah-ah-ah yeah-ah!

Behind bars in Bory - Veronika

In our first issue we have brought some information about Pilsen and the interesting places you can visit there. Highlighted were the two most appealing landmarks – the brewery and the prison in Bory.

They both were built shortly after each other, first the brewery and then the prison. The brewery in Pilsen was established in 1839. In this year all the men who had the right to brew a beer

in this city joined together and set up one big company. The brewery was constructed to produce about 30 000 hectolitres of beer a year. This great amount of alcohol consumed by the citizens obviously left some consequences.

In 1873, so less than forty years from establishing the brewery, citizens of Pilsen decided to build a prison there. This fact made us think about whether it is just a coincidence or if these events are somehow connected. We have made a brief research and we discovered interesting facts. According to study of one University in the Czech Republic, one third of the crimes are caused as a result of overindulgence. This means that consumption of the alcohol can have very serious and dangerous

consequences. So, when the brewery started to produce such a tasty beer, people got use to drink it more and more - and then things spiralled out of control. Criminality started to rise and the old prison in Pilsen couldn’t cover the needs of the city anymore. People said: “Enough!” and the prison in Bory was erected to deal with the new rise in criminality.

The prison is such an interesting architectural monument and you definitely should visit it if you have the time. So take it as a challenge, take tram number 4 and go to the final stop. You will have a quite cultural experience and in addition you can meat lot of new people.

Now that you are all back at home in your accustomed environment and can look back at a successful session, you might notice that some things are different from when you left. Colours seem duller, your best friends stop understanding inside jokes, and school is even less exciting than it used to be. If that is the case you suffer from an illness commonly known as PED or Post EYP Depression. Additional symptoms include a constant lack of sleep due to excessive chatting at night and increased difficulty of enjoying yourself without your committee members. Usually, this sickness is caused by an absence of fellow EYPers, a shortness of ridiculous games and missing opportunities to debate. You might also find that none of these apply to your case but that you feel a general dissatisfaction due to the missing atmosphere that you got to enjoy during these last four days.

Unfortunately there has not been found a cure for this disease yet, there are however several things you can do to reach some relief. As a first step, add all your new found friends on Facebook, it makes keeping in

touch a lot easier and also gives you a further possibility to learn about what is going on in EYP. Stating the obvious a bit? Well, maybe but most certainly there are still people among you who don’t even have a Facebook profile. Another thing that you can of course do is meeting again in person. Due to the reasonable size of the Czech Republic, it should not turn out very difficult to get together for a weekend and enjoy another city. This might sound a little strange to you now but once you miss people badly enough you would do almost anything to see them again.

The last strategy that I want to propose is very straightforward and at the same time extraordinarily effective since it covers all symptoms of a typical PED. Whether you do it on your own or with a team doesn’t matter, if you know people beforehand or if everyone there is going to be a complete stranger is of no importance – simply apply to another session. Board members of EYP Czech Republic as well as all Czech officials are a close team and would surely assist and inform you about upcoming EYP events that you should feel encouraged to join.

On the contrary, as Stamos pointed out during the Opening Ceremony, its members are normal human be-ings, to everyone’s relief! Chairs of the committee, Jari from Finland and Annika from Germany, literally helped ECON born out of its ashes during teambuilding. From the sim-plest name game to the shockingly complex Magic Stick, delegates, in the most plain term, built their team, all the while highlighting values like respect, tolerance, individuality and democratic approach. They marked shouting and talking all at once as their worst enemy as the setting sun created a halo above their heads.

As for committee work, under their chairs’ leadership, they have first han-dled the introductory clauses that in-clude motions about taxes, ongoing financial crisis and most importantly the varying economical systems among the EU Member States. From there on, finding solutions wasn’t compelling. They focused on fiscal discipline, education, support from numerous organisations and not so surprisingly, taxes before they all agreed on the benefits of economic governance.

As these words are written, ECON is clapping and cheering joyfully and enthusiastically, despite their growl-ing tummies: they have, after a long feary discussion, covered the educa-tion area and all of them are, as An-

nika just confirmed few seconds ago, “happy and satisfied”. Like a kid who wins a red juicy lollipop, they shake their hands (in a manner no one could identify), indicating their appre-ciation.

Golden rules rarely function in prac-tise. The classical “respect and listen” point especially is written to be ne-glected brutally. And tragically, team-building doesn’t seem to properly reach its aim of raising awareness to how a team could work in the most

productive and peaceful way most of the time. The result is generally sulk-ing faces and heavy gossiping and complaining afterwards. This par-ticular committee, however, doesn’t fit this pattern to everyone’s delight! I dare say their efficiency and under-standing should teach a lesson to the big guys in parliaments all over Eu-rope. Quoting Simon & Garfunkel; in a world overfilled with people talking without speaking and people hearing without listening, these nine special individuals are the main source of in-spiration behind these sincere words. In this case, instead of turning people into aggressive monsters, committee work taught the members of ECON life long lessons. The cliché of being able to “look from different perspec-tives” actually happened in this room. Again, quoting Simon & Garfunkel, Klara, Michal, Petr, Matej, Veronika, Ina, Daniel, Jakob and Anna made “hear my words and might teach you, take my arms and I might reach you” possible.

It wasn’t exactly Zumba dancing or having an own Metal Band, but smaller things such as loving to spend time with their family or having a similar taste in music. A few ‘hi ha hus’ and ‘a ram pam pams’ later, this energetic group had already significantly bonded.

During the game “drunken bottle” one of the delegates was pushed around slightly too hard and stepped on Pavel’s foot while trying to stabi-lize himself. Consequently the injured screamed, jumping on one leg while holding his knee – his knee? Asked about that manoeuvre, he stated that the toe hurt too much to be held, so that he settled for the knee instead – fair enough.

The committee also proved that its members could think outside the box. Petr came up with a theory ac-cording to which dolphins are at-tracted to the smell of cheeseburgers and Martina tried bribing people with chocolate during a problem solving exercise feauturing “Abigail’s Tale”.

This lively group, of which even the more silent ones were infected by

the energy, took a lot out of the teambuilding day. They were spotted at the Czech Village having a really good time together, probably admir-ing David’s exceptional baking skills.

The first afternoon of committee work started in a similar way. After a short introduction to the working method and the establishment of some ground rules, the fun began. Walt Disney, whose working model they used, would have been proud to witness that.

Firstly, all ideas were shot down on sticky notes and then posted on the board. The dynamic discussion that followed was astonishing. Some-times delegates were so eager to share their opinions that it was hard to keep track of everything that was being said. Therefore Mike and

Tereza had to be really attentive and calm the group down every once in a while. The team was so engaged in their discussion that it was some-times tough to stick closely to the topic, since so many interesting sub-jects were touched. When it came to phrasing the clauses they demon-strated high efficiency. Another thing that was quite amusing to watch was the little dance they all performed every time the school bell, or rather song, could be heard.

The Committee on Culture and Edu-cation is a group of busy bees, talka-tive and vibrant. For that reason I am convinced that they will be outstand-ing debaters in GA, something that they are excitedly looking forward to by now. Good luck – let’s hope they don’t get too distracted by all the boobies.

Common Agricultural Policy – not an easy topic to discuss at any age. However the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Pilsen 2011, dived into brainstorming and problems-solving without any hesitation or fear. Consequently, their results appeared to be incredibly fruitful!

Consequently, their results appeared to be incredibly fruitful! The commit-tee consisted of brilliant, bright and brainy delegates who were dedicat-ed, hard-working and focused at all times and even the sudden arrivals of their unpredictable journalist couldn’t distract them from their work. Ad-ditionally, they also had entertaining games mixed with extra-short breaks; enjoyable and highly appreciated. The obvious reason for that was the funny Irish guy, who happened to be one of their chairpersons. Seriously, where else would one find such a cute reincarnated Irish dwarf?!

Thanks to the highly engaged and helpful chairs, AGRI delegates were inspired to their best on the next day, even after the tiring and exhausting party on the evening of the last day of Committee Work. Needless to say, the results were visible: partykickers2, moodmakers3 and stunning divas4 – all working restlessly and giving life to their best ideas to ensure that eve-

ryone at the session would have the chance to feel the same way they did during coming with the product of AGRI; their resolution.

The resolution typing proved to be challenging for some, but they with the help of a lot of preparation, ac-tive and simply chilly-hot5 discussion, they were able to practice the nev-er-easy uncommon solution finding and use highly intelligent convincing methods. Working in small groups as well as together enabled even more productive and creative work for the whole committee, which was inter-esting and important for experience and knowledge sharing purposes.

Good timing and finishing the resolu-tion on time allowed AGRI to spend some more time on jokes and sim-ply having a good time, feeling happy and satisfied and ready to experi-ence even more breathtaking activi-ties the session had to offer. If you, for some odd reason, have still not got acquainted these amazing bunch of people, I strongly suggest you go ahead and meet Linka, Michala, Nela, Lucie, Lucas, David, Dima, Martin and the 2 Petr’s of the Committee on Ag-riculture and Rural Affairs.

And so, the session has ended. Mr Stamos said “I declare the 13th Na-tional Selection Conference of EYP Czech Republic closed”, we shaked few hands, hugged a lot of people, added new friends on Facebook, took our luggage and went to the train station. Some of us had crashed windows in a car, some were missing pants and some were missing elec-tricity in our apartments back home. The bright memories of last few days, however, still get all of us. And for me, that mostly means the fantastic time spent with the Committee on Environment.

When I first heard that I would be the journalist of ENVI, the committee chaired by Jacob and Franzi, I must admit I was a little bit scared. I still have my battle bruises from mad times in Frankfurt with Jacob and I just got together after pre-session madness

with this lovely German girl. But after spending some time with the whole crew, which is Barbara, Tomas, Ivana, Robin, Kristyna, Hana, Martina, Pavel, Alzbeta, Barbora, I knew good times were ahead.

Environment, you were a delightful group, always full of positive energy and creativity. You have made your-selves and others feel proud of you so many times during the course of the session; be it when your chair-persons showered you with com-pliments, when you became the center of the party vortex in a very natural way, when your resolution has passed during the General As-sembly, or when some of you got se-lected for sessions abroad. Still, none of all this actually matter. It’s people that does. An everlasting bond of friendship, shared experience – that is what EYP is all about. So here are a

few final words I’d like to share with the members of this amazing group:

Robin – sly dawg! The firestater, con-stant source of energy – this is how you rock, lad! Tom – proud shep-ard in one game, calm like an ivory tower when needed, ticking bomb of madness when possible. Pavel – the quickest of the cats, he sure knows how to roll. Kristina – laid back, mys-terious – everyone wants to know her secret. Betka – sweet, intelligent – these are the ladies we want on IS. Bara – no words can express all the hapiness this girl brings. Glasses, big smile and unreal amount of intel-ligence. Bara – seems shy at first glance, but then she turnes out to be sharp and smart. Best possible com-bo? Add blonde hair, because why not. Ivana – the core center of every game, if she is as good as she is in being samurai or James Bond, ENVI is safe. Martina – long raven hair and dreamy voice. Girlfriends – beware!Hanna – sporty girl with attitude. EYP needs more of that.

Of course, a lot of credit goes to the wonderful chairpersons of the committee, Jacob Rybka and Franzi Maier. They trained you well, young ones. So, this is almost it. Try to keep in touch, as this is the best thing that can happen to ENVI right now. And if you see a crazy guy in a hat rock-ing some random party, you know it will be your sincere friend and Polish journalist from Pilsen 2011.

A group of bright and smart young-sters had the opportunity to spend four days together as part of the Committee on Legal Affairs, discuss-ing the problems that public involve-ment in politics include.

The day of Teambuilding was sunny and so the delegates could enjoy the meeting with the breath of nature near the accomodation venue. Every-one got confident with the group by playing the drunken bottle, and as a result, they managed to put the stick high up in the air immediately with no problems. All in all, teambuilding proved to be a challenging day. So in the evening, part of the JURI com-mittee could rest in a theatre while the stars rocked the stage. We wish the couple with one child a happy life – we hope that the ex-husband just got a bad impression during twenty years of marriage.

Moving on to Committee Work, all the well-prepared delegates came with a wide variety of ideas and prob-lems to discuss. In regards the Euro-pean Citizens’ Initiative, some feared the risk of abusing the right of expres-sion by lobbying groups, others were afraid of the problem of increasing

eurocracy that might cause even a big harm to both citizens and the im-age of European Institutions.

The other issues included regional ones, ways to motivate EU citizens to be aware of and get involved in poli-tics more and how to inform the peo-ple about ECI and its benefits. One of the biggest challenges the delegates faced was how to promote media campaigns on ECI while not actually calling it a media campaign.

Luckily enough, the debate was so intense and concentrated that the committee was able to deal with all the raised issues well on time and there was even time to have a sec-ond round of brainstorming where the ideas were way more sophisticat-ed. These ranged from implementing the solutions even on the non-EU cit-izens, organising field trips to the Eu-ropean institutions and EU knowledge competitions over creating a sitcom about politics (Of course, minister being already slightly outdated), writ-ing stories of successful politicians to motivate citizens, making the EU listen to EYP decisions or introducing European Senior Parliament for the adults. Some of the solutions were even somewhat idealistic – establish-ing an ultimate European empire (ei-ther anarchy, oligarchy or monarchy) or a new religion with no democratic deficit or a totally perfect society with equal people having equal chances. However, the easiest way to raise the interest of public seemed to be dis-tributing lollipops to everyone.

To conclude, one has to remember the creativity the committee was able to demonstrate when considering all the solutions that will make Europe a better place to live in. And don’t for-get, if you feel you would like to take part in the European politics, prom-ise free hugs to everyone – it really works!

On the morning of Thurs-day, the 24th of March, I woke up tired and men-tally exhausted. After I fin-ished the article on the committee topic for INTA, however, I started feeling continuously more awake and enthusiastic. By the time I approached the del-egates’ accommodation in the early afternoon, I was positively psyched to meet my committee. Copious amounts of sunshine and summer-like weather cre-ated ideal conditions for some active outdoor team-building.

The group of delegates that our chair-pair Magda and Dorota gathered around them already looked prom-ising at first sight. I was pos-itively surprised that after a couple of name games everyone had even memo-rized my name. The freshly formed committee also proved fast at completing other teambuilding tasks.

Despite the fact that the chairs kept trying to force them to make mistakes to learn from, the delegates didn’t let any challenge catch them off guard. Magda was astonished by the fact that the commit-tee completed “Sheep and Shepherd” in only five min-utes. By the end of team-building, the delegates were visibly comfortable with each other and I was excited to report about a committee with so much positive energy at my first session as a journalist.

The next day put some doubts on my mind as to whether or not the del-egates would even appre-ciate my work, since they seemed to have quite a strange impression on the role of a journalist. When asked by the chairs to list 100 things you can use a journalist for, “writing arti-cles about us” was #94, far behind “raping him”, “setting

him on fire” and “walking him on a leash”. Naturally, I was quite relieved when I had to leave for the press team meeting. Luckily, as the second day of commit-tee work progressed and the delegates discussed extremely respectfully and harmonically, I realised that my committee didn’t really consist of journalist-hating sadists, but of humorous, outgoing (and rather kinky) EYPers. They were always good for a laugh during the tough work on their resolu-tion about the importance of human rights in trade re-lations between the EU and China.

INTA had an especially tight schedule to follow due to an unprecedented experiment that had been planned for Saturday after-noon. On a chair’s laptop, INTA held an international Skype video-conference with a group of EYP del-egates from the ongoing

Turkish National Selection Conference who hap-pened to be debating the exact same topic in their committee. From their Turkish counterparts, INTA received some helpful feedback and suggestions on their resolution. After some cosmetic work by Magda on the phrasing of the resolution, the prod-uct of our committee was finally ready to stand up to the General Assembly. Two and a half days with this ex-traordinary group of new EYP alumni went by in a breeze. They have made a great bond with each other and it was a pleasure for me to capture the wonder-ful memories they created at this session. No matter who or how many of them are selected by the jury, I hope they all continue with EYP and that we will see each other again at some future sessions. I would shave my legs for them.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Committee on Foreign Affairs. You can always see them being in a good mood and en-joying themselves to the maximum. They love the Banana energiser and they don’t miss any opportunity to do it and they always make sure to shout out so loud that you can feel the walls are shaking. Their passion for this song is so big that David asked their chairs to do it in the middle of a discussion during committee work.

Even though the topic of AFET is very politics related and perhaps slightly more suitable for men, there are sev-en girls and only three boys in AFET. As you can see, girls are interested in politics too and during the discus-sion they are as sharp and confident as the boys. Honza, Vašek and David look like they feel really good in this group, especially during teambuilding when playing some “touchy” games.

During teambuilding they got to know a lot of interesting stuff about one an-other. Markéta made everyone laugh by explaining how she was afraid of Michael Jackson when she was little. The group also got to discover that the Committee on Foreign Affairs is as international as it gets. Two of our girls come from different coun-tries; Aleksandra was born in Serbia and Nicole comes from Italy, which is awesome, because they can bring an “outsiders” perspective on the top-ic. Lenka, Zuzka, Lucka, Nicole and Markéta have enjoyed the “Sheep and

Shephard” game, which they got to solve with the help of a pretty original strategy - making sounds of different animals. After teambuilding, more serious staff came on - committee work. Topic of the Committee on Foreign Affairs is a very wide and complicated one. Consequently, the most difficult part has been to choose what the most important points were and what should be discussed the most. Now that the resolution is almost done, it is safe to say that the discussion was very inspiring and delegates of AFET have every reason to be extremely satisfied with their hard work.

The quality of AFET’s resolution will be tested today during a video de-bate via the internet with the same committee in Istanbul, where the Na-tional Selection Conference of EYP Turkey is taking place right now. This committee is working on the same topic as our AFET so the conference call promises to be an enriching and interesting experience for both par-ties. Everyone is looking forward to hearing opinions of their Turkish fel-low delegates and they are getting ready to defend their own points and explain ideas of their resolution.

The National Selection Conference is slowly coming to an end. Dur-ing these few days spent together in Pilsen the Committee on Foreign Affairs has managed to build a mar-velous team, who then successfully managed to undertake this uneasy challenge. As these words are being typed, the Post EYP Depression is standing by the door and waiting to attack all of us.
