Deborah, a woman, was judging Israel at that time, and she summoned Barak to fight for them; he was hesitant, so Deborah went with him. But then a new generation rose up who did not know the Lord or the works He had done for Israel… (Judg. 2:7-10) CHRIST CONNECTION: e judges saved people from the consequences of their sin but could not change the cause of their sin. Jesus is the Savior and Judge who takes upon Himself the consequences for our sin and then offers us new hearts that seek His righteousness.

The JUDGES

SIN JUDGMENT DELIVERANCE

The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight; they worshiped the Baals and abandoned the Lord (2:11-13)

The Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He gave them over to their enemies around them (2:14-15)

When the Israelites cried out, the Lord raised up a judge to save them from their enemies. But when the judge died, the Israelites acted even more corruptly than their fathers had… (2:16-19)

The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight (3:7)
