Our very own Albert Nishikawa was featured on a Japan news pro-
gram NHK News Japan. In it, Albert remembers his father who was
wrongly forced to live in an internment camp here on Oahu, Hawaii.
His father had worked for a newspaper of Japanese print and was
without warning placed behind a barbed wire camp named
Honouliuli.
“The Honouliuli Internment and POW Camp in Kunia on O’ahu was
the largest internment camp in Hawaii. Opened in 1943 during the
height of World War II, Honouliuli held approximately 300 internees
from Hawaii of Japanese” descent.
To the left are three links to videos
that are of interest concerning the
subject of interment of
Japanese Americans and
others in Hawaii.
Albert as a long time
member of St. Mary came
here via Holy Trinity
Church after it was closed
on School Street. At St.
Mary, Albert served on
the Vestry as a junior warden. Because of his love of planting, he worked
ground maintenance and beautification. The front cover of this newsletter and
the photo right shows him by plants he planted and nurtured.

Korean Congregation Got Cool For the Hawaii Vision Presbyterian Church, things just got a little
cooler.
The church, which meets in Soldier Chapel on the grounds of St. Mary of
Mo’ili’ili, purchased and installed a 35,000 BTU Mitsubishi Electric Air
Condition unit to the tune of $8,500 including electrical work.
Hawaii Vision is shepherd by the Reverend Hyung J. Jeong and this is not
the first time that his con-
gregation has blessed Sol-
dier Chapel and therefore
St. Mary of Mo’ili’ili.
Soon after his arrival to
the chapel, Reverend
Jeong said “ the church
spent $7,000 on new
carpet and light fixtures”.
Hawaii Vision’s first ser-
vice at Soldier Chapel was
March of 2015. Presently
they have 50 communi-
cants. Every Sunday at 11
am, the spirit truly flows
among the members as
anyone could attest to after
hearing the spirit filled
singing.
Church members are
friendly and welcoming.
The service is in Korean,
but translation is provided
through headphones.
Pastor Jeong is not shy about fellowshipping with sister churches
such as St. Mary of Mo’ili’ili. He believes (knows) we are all one
in God’s sight - his children.
We thank God for Rev. Jeong, Hawaii Vision Members and the
love they bring to the table.
Pastor Jeong said “ We are happy here!”. We are happy here too!
Love you Hawaii Vision!
