PROFILE

Pavel Chromy was completing his law degree in Prague, in his native Czech Republic, when he decided to help his brother out in his event management company while looking for law work. To his surprise, he found that he enjoyed this type of work much more than the law and stayed on for fi ve years, writes HARTLEY HENDERSON.

From law studies to event management

Pavel then moved to Australia in 2005 to be with his girlfriend Nicole, who is now his wife, and established

Event Marquees. He now has over 20 years experience in the event management and marquee hire industry and estimates that he has been involved in over 5,000 events.

Today Event Marquees provides a com-plete marquee hire solution with a compre-hensive range of marquees and accessories including fl ooring, staging, tables and chairs, umbrellas, picket fencing, heating and cooling, lighting, and AV equipment.

The geographical area covered by the company in NSW includes Sydney, Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Newcastle, Blue Mountains

and the Southern highlands, as well as Canberra, and even events in

countries such as Vanuatu, Fiji and New Zealand.

Pavel says the company does a wide range of events including weddings, pri-vate events, corporate events, and brand-ing activation events.

“We predominantly do larger corporate events and weddings that are typically for 100 to over 200 people, and we assist with the whole package, not just the hiring of the marquee,” he said.

“When we started we only had enough equipment to do one 100 person event. Th ese days we have two warehouses full of marquees and accessories and do over 500 events per year.

“Major events that we have been involved with include Colgate

product launching, Prince Charles

visit to

Sydney, Sydney Listen Out Festival, Sydney V8 Supercars 500 and Bathurst V8 Supercars 1000, and the Sydney Mardi Gras.”

According to Pavel, the main trend is towards personalisation, whether it’s a corporate event or a wedding. “Th ese days people want an event that is individual and matches their personality or their com-pany’s brand,” he told Events + Equipment.

“Clients are looking for new and con-temporary trends. Everyone is on the in-ternet, so they know what is possible and we try to make sure that the latest concepts and trends are available here in Australia.

“We look forward to European trends, so I spend time in Europe every year seeing what the next big things are and importing them to Event Marquees. Th is year we in-troduced Brandable Dome marquees and cannot keep up with the demand.”

Planning and managing Pavel says a lot of considerations are necessary to ensure that the company’s obligations in areas such as health, safety and insurance are met when planning and managing events.

“We have a safe methods work statement and provide liability in-

surance as well as off ering clients

free site inspections because selecting the correct location is critical,” he explained.

“We are on what you might call the unglamorous side of events, which means we are usually on site fi rst and then come back when the event is over to dismantle and remove the equipment.

“In managing events it’s important to be organised and calm at all times because you have to be good at dealing with all sorts of people. Th e nature of what we do means you oft en have clients who are not at their best – they are stressed and worried – so you need to be completely on top of what you do so as to not provide more stress for them.

“Our strength is in our team. Some of my guys have been with the company since the beginning, and I personally have a full range of experience, from labouring to the back offi ce, so that I understand all roles and can step in when needed. However, these days I specialise in client account management, business develop-ment, and event production.”

Industry outlookPavel advises that aft er the global fi nancial crisis he saw a more tentative corporate market but that has begun correcting over the last couple of years.

“Weddings are still a huge sector for us and we are continuing to see many couples with a signifi cant budget to make their day special,” he said.

“We are also seeing a lot more people moving towards celebrating life’s mile-stones, and we are getting a lot more bookings for the Big Zero birthdays and other life events such as christenings and graduations.

“Th e industry has changed in the last few years and is much more client oriented these days. Clients know what they want and they do a lot more research online.

“For us, we think the future is built on simple elements such as paying attention to the details, listening to customers’ needs, and providing exceptional client service.

“It’s important to be proactive and ensure we off er a modern solution, not a style that might have been fi ne 10 years ago. With the rise of the internet and social media, customers are generally very savvy and know what they want. As an industry we have to make sure that we give it to them and not lag behind the rest of the world.”

Events + Equipment reporter Lauren Butler recently investigated the importance of compliance, innovation and having a competitive edge with marquee and tent industry leaders.

Increases in industry expectations and diffi culty with the global economy over the past 12 months has motivated

Liri Tent to expand its product range in an attempt to increase business. Senior sales manager John Zhou said that the eyelid hangar tent, retractable wheel tent and steel industry tent are major new products from 2015.

“We are quite proud of them. In the coming 12 months, we will mainly con-centrate on the new designs from 2015

and perfect them. We are also going to work on more innovative products, such as a double decker pagoda tent, a small infl atable roof tent and so on,” he said.

Mr Zhou also said Liri Tent off ers an-nual promotional discounts to its clients to retain their business.

According to Mr Zhou, having a point of diff erence is necessary in the industry at present.

“We were the fi rst and the largest aluminium clear span structure marquee

manufacturer in China, and over the past 19 years, we have established a good reputation for high quality products, strong technical support and considerate after-sales services. The owner is also our general engineer and he leads a strong and creative technical team who put out new designs every year. We are also the only factory in China who is using CNC machines for manufacturing to ensure accuracy of the processing,” Mr Zhou told Events + Equipment.

With international events requiring purpose engineered products, Liri Tent has accumulated plenty of experience.

“We have rich experience in interna-tional events, such as the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, 2011 Shenzhen Universiade, 2014 China Open, 2015 World Athletics Championship, WTA Tennis 2015, PGA Golf Championship 2015 and the Canton Fair since 2002.”

Mr Zhou believes that the market is de-celerating, but that competition continues to rise with the introduction of a number of smaller players.

“Honestly speaking, the market is slow-ing down, but the business of Liri Tent is stable and has a small growth. We are get-ting more enquiries about steel industry tents, hangar or aircraft tents and double decker tents, which look to be a new trend in the near future,” he said.

“The competition is getting fierce, as many new businesses enter the industry. This field is a small circle and additionally, marquees are durable products, with a lifespan of up to 20 years. So in order to

survive, those new players must get some business at the first step, but they don’t have an edge, so they can only compete with the big and reputable companies by lowering their pricing,” he said.

Mr Zhou also said that market percep-tions can be dangerous for smaller busi-nesses in China, where Liri Tent is based.

“There’s a negative effect on Made in China products, because low prices are associated with low quality and high risk. New players have to think about how to win the market with technology and qual-ity,” Mr Zhou said.

Liri Tent’s biggest hurdle is that smaller suppliers may “ruin the industry”, with poor quality products and unsustainable price points.

“We are considering finding an asso-ciation to manage this industry’s quality and pricing regulations which must be worked out,” said Mr Zhou.

Liri Tent’s marketing and promotions strategy has been successful in recent years, and its team plans to continue this by employing similar strategies in 2016. Currently its best-selling products include 6, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 metre clear span marquees and also 3, 4, 5 and 6 metre pa-goda tents, but it offers multiple designs and shapes, including A shapes, high peak conversions, dome shapes, curved shape and polygon.

Mr Zhou said that while the strategy is working, the team will also be paying more attention to important emerging markets. Australia is one of Liri Tent’s main focuses because all products made

by the company are in accordance with Australia’s stringent standards for struc-tural engineering and PVC fabric flame retardancy.

“Our main customers in Australia are Pages and Harry the Hirer, amongst oth-ers. Most suppliers are from China, but Serge Ferrari is a supplier of Liri Tent in France,” Mr Zhou said.

Regardless of its success in the inter-national market, Mr Zhou said that the industry is not always easy, but it has been worthwhile investing in the business.

“Having been through trials and hard-ship for almost 20 years, Liri Tent has reached total assets of 20 million USD and nearly 500 employees, making us the larg-est tent manufacturer in China.”

Liri Tent were also awarded The Beauty of Made in China Award from 2013 to 2015, which is described as the “Oscars of Chinese industrial design”.

Standards and developmentsWhile many industries have experienced a downturn and faced difficulties recently, H-Line has managed to remain stable despite stringent new industry standards, according to H-Line Structures’ sales manager, Jocinda Whitehead.

“As we service such a far reaching cus-tomer base, our level of demand is remain-ing balanced,” she said.

“The market itself is extremely competi-tive. That being said, we are not allowing this to dull our service level, and we see the added competition as a way to show our existing and new client base that we are here for the long haul. We will con-tinue to bring a higher service level as always, with quality workmanship and products, no matter what size the order is,” Ms Whitehead said.

H-Line has achieved many develop-ments over the past twelve months, wel-coming new sales manager Ms Whitehead and marketing expert Emma Lacko, which the company believes has introduced a fresh perspective and beneficial change.

“Our team of directors have put a lot of time into planning directional growth for the business, including the expansion of our warehouse to accommodate the manufacturing needs of our client base. We are seeing this come to fruition now,” Ms Whitehead said.

“We have also seen the addition of a computer cutter and plotter, which has improved efficiencies in our production

line immensely. Along with this we use high frequency welding machines, sew-ing machines and finishing equipment, allowing us to keep up with the high demand, and distribution timeframes of our valued clients,” she said.

H-Line also recently introduced its SKP Tent Master, which enables easy installation of covers and removes the man power required to manually pull PVC covers onto a large structure. Th e PVC covers are then automatically pulled via a remote device which helps clients to reduce man-made error in relation to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.

“Th is safer, faster solution has grabbed the interest of our hire clients for obvious reasons, and we hope to see more of these units in the hands of the people who will most benefi t from them this year,” Ms Whitehead said.

H-Line also recently introduced its new SKP Tent Washer EC5000.

“Our SKP GMBH Tent Washer range off ers an alternative to manually washing covers. Th is reduces down time and improves turnaround, so our clients can enjoy the improved effi ciency of gaining control over their timeframes by utilising one of these systems on their premises,” Ms Whitehead said.

Th e new SKP Tent Washer EC500 is also equipped with a dry-ing system and is designed for medium to large hire companies as an entry level washer.

Important developments in the industry include the recently introduced Temporary Building Engineering Requirements, implemented by the Building Code of Australia (BCA).

“Th is will have repercussions for every event and hire business in the country,” Ms Whitehead said.

Th ough this is acknowledged, H-Line is not concerned about negative impacts on the company.

“Handled correctly, this will make a good business ‘better’ and businesses with poor practices will struggle with compliance,” she said.

“From our sales process to our design phase, delivery and install – we stick to our commitments and do what it takes to ensure a project is handed over on time, on budget and to meet expectations,” said Ms Whitehead.

“We recognise that we have knowl-edge in certain areas that our customers may not. To that end, we make it our business to ensure all of our structures are compliant and engineered to the highest safety and Australian stand-ards,” she said.

“We are able to tailor our product to the specific requirements of our clients and their timeframes. We employ local people and we are centrally based in a logistical hub, which enables us to sup-ply anywhere in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific quickly and easily,” said Ms Whitehead.

Th e H-Line facility also utilises up to date technology and equipment specifi cally for the purpose of PVC fabric and lining production, and distribution of temporary and permanent struc-tures. Th e H-Line team looks forward to displaying its products at the upcoming HIRE 16 Exhibition on the Gold Coast on the 5th and 6th of May.

“We will be showcasing our SKP Tent Master ‘Cover Puller’ and products from Röder Zelt GMBH and Höcker UK,” Ms Whitehead said.

Business changes and costsRöder HTS Höcker has had a busy 12 months with a business move from West Gosford to Fountaindale on the NSW Cen-tral Coast.

Röder HTS Höcker’s national sales manager, Jeff Stevens, said that the benefi t of this move is the 1500 square metre warehouse.

“Th is has now provided us with the opportunity to have more stock on hand and in turn helps our customers with immediate delivery lead times instead of having to wait 12 weeks for delivery from Germany,” Mr Stevens said.

Th e Australian subsidiary is wholly owned by the German company, which means that customers have the ability to pur-chase directly from the manufacturer.

“There is no middle man, so the customer receives the best possible price when purchasing our products. All of our prod-ucts are manufactured in Germany using state of the art

The EC5000 was designed as a cleaning machine for PVC-tarpaulins without complex electronic control.

CNC machines producing high quality items at affordable prices. We also have a new high tech PVC fabrication plant and we only use top quality European PVC for our covers,” Mr Stevens said.

Röder HTS Höcker also ran an in-house exhibition late last year with a positive response from event rental companies.

“We had Baytex, Your Floor, Ezi-Floor and Lefetime indus-tries display at the show and we will be doing another in house show during August this year,” he said.

Changes in regulations have also affected the company, particularly because regulations can vary between states. Ac-cording to Mr Stevens, this proves difficult for companies that operate across Australian borders, as they must meet the gov-ernance of each state on an individual basis.

“Our company has been pro-active in this area in relation to the engineering of our products and we will keep working to help our customers with the right information and products that allow them to operate within the regulations,” said Mr Stevens.

The cost of labour is also putting some pressure on the business according to Mr Stevens.

“A large part of the cost of running an event rental company is the fact that it is extremely labour driven. We are always trying to achieve the best possible outcome by providing marquees and accessory products that require minimal labour,” he said.

Mr Stevens also said that the tent rental market has changed considerably.

“We now produce two and three storey structures that you can see at the motor racing circuits and horse racing tracks. In the smaller companies the Höcker P series structure would be the most popular product in use.”

Th is small structure may also be enhanced with integrated timber fl ooring and hard walls with glass doors and windows.

“This has lifted the profile of the hire marquee in general and has been driven by the customers’ demand for a more substantial finished product. We have also moved into sup-plying large temporary and permanent warehouses and sports facilities including swimming pool enclosures and equestrian arenas,” said Mr Stevens.

Mr Stevens said that along with having a competitive range and prices, the company continues to off er promotions to main-tain customer service.

“We have begun to run monthly specials that we send to our customer database via e-shot email. Th ese are usually sent dur-ing the fi rst week of every month. Th ey’re quite substantial discounts on products on hand in our Australian warehouse,” he said.

Mr Stevens said that business in Aus-tralia is successful, with a number of event tent rental companies using Röder HTS Höcker products.

“Th e most well-known of those would be Harry the Hirer. Our customer base includes event companies from small backyards to major operations in all Aus-tralian capital cities. In the temporary warehouse sector we supply Australian temporary structures and short and long term rentals of sports pavilions and the like,” Mr Stevens said.

Röder HTS Höcker is not normally directly involved in events, but has been a big part of the Clipsal V8 Supercar Race in Adelaide.

“We also produced and supplied the tri-ple storey pit straight structure, and held the contract to erect the same for the past fi ve years,” Mr Stevens said.

Th ey have also supplied structures for use at high profi le events, including

the Melbourne Cup, Australian Ten-nis Open, Moto GP and the Gold

Coast and Sydney V8 Super Car Races.

Quality and trendsAccording to Stretch Structures, it’s essen-tial to stay fresh and ahead of emerging trends, with quality products that are fi t for purpose.

Stretch Structures’ managing director Stuart Johnstone, said, “Keeping an eye on the direction that these trends take and staying up to date with and meeting the creative challenges of customers ensures that we stay in the game.”

Mr Johnstone also said that the excit-ing thing about working with stretch tents is their ability to transform into a piece of architecture.

“No longer do planners have to work around stiff structures. Th ey can include things like lighting, décor and design as part of the overall look and feel of the en-tire event. Th e tent itself acts as a founda-tion, a blank canvas if you will, to enhance any creative concept.”

Mr Johnstone said that emerging trends and a diverse client base is a con-stant challenge that the company is will-ing to undertake.

“Since the pressure is always on stay-ing ahead of emerging trends, our big-gest issue is to predict and provide solu-tions for our customers that they may not have even thought of yet. We have to think outside the box and come up with new and exciting offerings inter-nationally. This translates as a constant pressure on our business concept,” Mr Johnstone said.

Mr Johnstone said that the range of requests they receive is incredibly broad, because the client base is so broad.

“From lightweight, f loating mirror balls to event f loor and stage

options. From food truck extensions to recy-

container structures made into living areas. Then there are the existing tent rental companies who are desperate to update their image.”

Stretch Structures are also able to man-ufacture stretch tent skins to fi t customers’ existing framework infrastructure.

In order to keep ahead of trends, Stretch Structures has also launched a broad range of new products.

“We have launched larger structures in our Mega Truss stretch tents, a new Axion Flower, Tripod and Spider, as well as new clear fabric and glazed wall op-tions for Stretch Tents. In 2016, our aim is to launch new products and develop new solutions which will provide easier installation and more creative choice and f lexibility for our customers,” Mr Johnstone said.

The company’s plan for 2016 is to release an integrated f looring system for Stretch Tents with hard surface fin-ish and easy development, as well as retrofit Stretch Tent skins for clearspan, pavilion and pagoda style structures. The aim is to give rental companies the ability to maximise return on its exist-ing stock by offering a new, attractive and innovation style of marquee as an alternative. The company also plans to introduce clear fabric and glazed wall options for the stretch tents.

Mr Johnstone said its company, amongst many others, fi nd the market to be highly competitive.

“Th ere are a lot of players in the game and new competitors coming into the market annually.”

highest quality that customers have come to rely on. We’re perfectionists, and every tent we produce undergoes several checks for manufacturing defects before it leaves our factory doors,” Mr Johnstone said.

“We stay ahead of the competition by investing heavily in improving our product range and developing new and innovative products. We have in-house experts with a broad range of capabili-ties, so we are able to design solutions using the most suitable materials and state of the art technology,” Mr John-stone said.

“With manufacturing facilities in Eu-rope, China and Australia and offi ces in the UK and the USA, we have a far broad-er global reach so we are able to support our customers no matter where they are in the world.”

Mr Johnstone said that the company has seen steady growth on a yearly basis throughout Australia.

“Over the course of 2015 and into the beginning of 2016 we have seen our UK market pick up exponentially. We’ve re-cently opened up offices in the US and see it growing at a steady pace. It just shows you that polite, efficient customer

service works and that our products speak for themselves.”

The company looks to new technol-ogy and lightweight materials with a long lifespan to ensure that strength and durability are never compromised.

“The modern designs and materials used ensure our products are far easier to transport, along with providing sav-ings in shipping and storage due to light-weight nature and compact designs,” Mr Johnstone said.

Stretch Structures also intends to take care in meeting industry standards which vary between the countries that it operates in.

“We keep a strict eye on all of our struc-tures passing building code requirements and, of course, fi re retardant certifi cation. Th ese codes vary from country to coun-try and state to state in Australia and the US. It’s our responsibility to ensure we are up to date and informed about any new standards set in these two areas worldwide,” said Mr Johnstone.

He also said that they have to work with customers to ensure that they com-ply with all relevant international and lo-cal building code requirements, and that the new building codes introduced by the BCA should create positive change.

“Th ough the adoption of this is not yet uniform across all states, we do expect that as a new standard it will take some time to be understood and fully adopted throughout the industry in Australia. Be-cause we have to meet similar standards in Europe and the UK, we certainly see this as a great development in the Australian market,” Mr Johnstone said.

PRODUCTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Germany’s TENT-EXPOEach year, early in the month of Novem-ber, Röder HTS Höcker GmbH holds its annual TENT-EXPO in the town of Wachtersbach, Germany. The TENT-EXPO displays one of the most diverse range of clear span structure tent sys-tems available from a single manufac-turing source.

The show focuses on the very best Röder HTS Höcker GmbH has to offer from the smallest to the most sophisti-cated temporary structures available in today’s market place.

While viewing the products and enjoying great hospitality, custom-ers can further enhance their experi-ence by visiting the HTS ‘PARTNER’ exhibitor area.

This area is allocated for the display of numerous leading events products and services including event furniture, decorative linings, heating & air condi-tioning, event planning software, cover cleaning machines and more.

Roger Makin and Jeff Stevens rep-resenting HTS Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Röder HTS Höcker GmbH attend the show annually and were happy to welcome along attend-ees from a number of Australian event hire companies this year. The attendees

were Steve Palmer and Jayden Scott from Territory Events Hire in Darwin, Ben Blakiston from Widdeson’s Hire in Perth, Milton and Duncan Jaeger from Jaeger’s Event Hire in Wagga Wagga and Rick Jamieson, Aaron Brockley and Andrew Dustan from Harry the Hirer in Melbourne.

The Australian attendees are well looked after by the German company, with airport transfers, accommodation, a factory tour and a visit to a large rental company all provided free of charge. This year the BMW hospitality two storey structure was the main feature and is the actual structure used by the BMW racing team throughout Europe. The structure was used as the base for registrations, entertainment and meals.

If you are interested in attending the 2016 TENT-EXPO please contact either Roger Makin or Jeff Stevens and they will assist with registration.

2015 highest achievers announced at exhibition and event association gala dinnerThe Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) celebrated the end of the season with the announcement of the 2015 Awards for Excellence winners at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf.

The event was attended by almost 300 people representing organisers, association organisers, venues and sup-pliers from Australia and New Zealand and was hosted by SBS news presenter, Janice Petersen.

EEAA Chief Executive, Ms DiMascio, said the awards attracted entries ref lect-ing the diversity of events, venues and services in the important industry.

“These were judged by 29 independ-ent volunteer judges from around Aus-tralia and overseas.” Ms DiMascio said.

“It is clear from the judges’ feedback that our members have worked very hard to deliver outstanding results. It is this drive to constantly excel that we celebrate tonight.”

EEAA President, Mr Genua, said he was honoured to present the Trevor Rid-dell Award for contribution to the As-sociation and the Exhibition industry to Jim Delahunty of ExpoNet.

Reed Exhibitions acquires a leading retail B2B event and publishing companyReed Exhibitions, part of RELX Group has announced that it has acquired Legend Exhibitions, the organisation behind two of Europe’s retail technology and retail design events.

Launched in 2011 and taking place in March in London, UK, RBTE is a retail solutions event attracting over 12,000 visitors annually, mainly retailers as well as hospitality, travel and leisure opera-tors. Successfully launched in 2015, the co-located Retail Design Expo attracts designers, architects, brand owners as well as retailers. Retail Digital Signage Expo will be launched in March 2016.

Legend Exhibitions is well placed to benefit from the UK retail market, val-ued at £433bn in 2014. The UK has the highest proportion of online sales, at 24 per cent of global retail sales. The UK online retail market is forecast to grow 12 per cent this year.

Mr Mortimore, Chief Executive Of-ficer, Reed Exhibitions UK said, “The ac-quisition of Legend Exhibitions is an ex-citing opportunity to move into the retail technology and retail design industry.

John Bednall, CEO, Legend Exhibi-tions said, “Legend Exhibitions is grow-ing fast in serving this huge and excit-ing sector. As part of Reed Exhibitions we will be able to grow our exhibitions, summits and online magazines even faster both here in the UK and abroad.”From www.eeaa.com.au

The first AVID S6L for hire in Asia-PacificNovatech Creative Event Technology has sent out the first AVID S6L digital

mixer for hire in the Asia-Pacific region to handle the high channel and bus count of Adelaide’s Carols by Candle-light. During the event the S6L used all 64 inputs, as well as 16 outputs which fed eight front of house audio zones to the system and eight orchestral submixes to the AVID SC48 monitor console. Well known Australian sound engineer Jon Lemon was full of praise for Novatech and the S6L. “The S6L only arrived in the warehouse last Tuesday; it was the first one in the country!” he said. “I was suitably impressed, and I think it’s a wise investment for Novatech, who I believe are in the premiere class among Australia’s production companies. The S6L made a monster gig easy. We built 65 snapshots over six hours of rehearsal, and operation was completely intuitive. I particularly liked the custom layouts feature, being able to choose what chan-nels are on the surface’s 32 faders for each snapshot. I also found having three customisable control modules makes life easier. And sonically, running at 96 kHz makes such a difference.” The S6L is set to become the international standard for front-of-house mixing, with the world’s leading hire companies already invest-ing in multiple units. ‘Digital swag bags’ set to take off in 2016Giveaway bags or ‘swag bags’ are a favour-ite at events, but are notorious for waste, often irrelevant, and require cooperation and expense from sponsors. As people become more environmentally aware, and companies push digital boundaries, virtual giveaway bags from companies such as Virtual Event Bags, Eventbaxx and Zoliro, provide an economical and environmentally friendly alternative.

Smart idea: Op Tik beverage systemDeveloped by an Aussie inventor named Andrew Hunter, the Op Tik system

means you can pour wine and pre-mix beverages through a draught system, just like beer and cider.

The benefits of Op Tik, beyond the obvious reduction in costs (it is cheaper to buy wine and RTDs in a keg), you will not have to deal with getting rid of mountains or bottles, cans and cartons. Wine does not oxidise when served in this way and consumers can actually see what they are buying due to the ‘sight glass’; the clear canister that sits atop the dispensing font.

Any venue that already has a draught system in place can be retrofitted to in-stall an Op Tik and the system is f lexible enough to allow the venue to feature dif-ferent wines and RTD’s every week.

According to Hunter, draught sys-tems for wine are already big in North America and Canada and are rap-idly gaining the attention of retailers in Australia. In terms of availability, the import market for keg wine is grow-ing rapidly and on a local scale, many Australian and New Zealand wineries are producing kegged wine. Swings and Roundabouts in the Margaret River re-gion and Treasury Wine Estates are just two examples of wineries packaging wine in this way in Australia.

When it comes to serving beverages at festivals or large scale events, this sys-tem significantly reduces material waste which is an increasingly important part of the sustainability requirements for many remote locations. From www.spicenews.com.au

1,000 users now on-board!This week the Current RMS Team are cel-ebrating hitting the 1,000-user mark with close to 700 rental businesses worldwide now relying on the system to manage their hire processes.

Launched just 15 months ago, Current has experienced rapid growth, illustrating the need for event and production hire businesses to be able to work on the move, raise quotes on the fly, check stock avail-ability and generate invoices from any device and location.

“Current has been so well received across the UK and we are now seeing significant growth across USA, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East – that’s the beauty of the cloud, businesses can signup within 60 seconds online and re-ceive the same level of support from us, no matter where in the world they are,” said Lisa Kenward, business manager.

Since launch, Current has heavily in-vested resource in development, building exciting new features requested for by the industry, using the Customer Wishlist on the Current RMS website to help deter-mine what features to build next.

“Who better to help decide what fea-tures should be built into the system than those who work day in, day out in the industry? We’re focused on building a product that suits this sector and the way in which they manage hires.”From www.eventindustrynews.co.uk
