The Job Planner’s Story: The Oil Field Services Industry encompasses many aspects of the maintenance of operations in the Oil and Gas Upstream production. Planning for maintenance services in the Oil Field such as well-cleaning and coil-tubing work requires real-time data regarding the specialized equipment needed for the service or job. It is the role of the Job Planner to gather the requirements for the requested service, identify the service activities per the contract with the client, create a job order for the service, determine the equipment requirements for the job and schedule those items to be assigned to that job as per the requested service dates. One of the major tasks of the planner is to determine the availability of the equipment for the job and make the assignments that will provide effective utilization of the company’s equipment assets. The job planner looks at the current and planned activities for the necessary equipment as well as any planned maintenance. Once availability is checked and the equipment is assigned, the job planner processes the equipment mobilization in the form of a transportation order which (in the system) moves the equipment into a consignment status to designate that it is on the job at the designated customer location. As a job planner, it would be helpful to have an app that provided a list of the requested service jobs with the capability to select the equipment type required based on a planning board view showing current location, status and maintenance scheduling for each of the individual pieces of equipment required for the service job. The planner could then select the available item and reserve it for the job. This app could also be used to allow job date changes to coordinate with equipment availability, service type changes, and view current status and utilization of equipment. Point of View Statement Nick, the Job Planner needs a way to view equipment availability including both the current utilization and the maintenance inspection schedule so that he can effectively manage the scheduling and mobilization of the equipment for the service jobs.

“ I like to be able to tell our customers

exactly when their job can be scheduled.

They need to know we’ll be there when

they need us.”

30, single. Joined this Oil Field Service company after obtaining

college degree in Oil & Gas Engineering.

I have in-depth knowledge of our rigs, their capabilities and

components to match the service job requirements.

Very focused. I have multiple service jobs occurring simultaneously

that need my oversight.

Customer Well Managers and On-site Representatives, Procurement

Department, Our Company’s Project Managers, Tool Pushers and

Maintenance Manager

• I am the main contact for our Customers requesting Oil Field well

services

• I manage Service Order releases from Contracts and the

subsequent transportation orders for equipment.

• I schedule and mobilize equipment for the service jobs to ensure

the right rig goes to the job.

• I track our Equipment and maximize utilization .

• I work with the Maintenance Manager for planning equipment.

• I procure supplies and transfer them to the job.

• I track job progress and resolve issues.

• I need a real-time planning board for our equipment that includes

maintenance scheduling.

• I need a simplified method for Equipment selection and mobilization

to a job.

• I need the ability to check availability of equipment as I’m working

with the costumer discussing service needs.

• Simplify the decision process for assigning equipment to a service job.

• Coordinate equipment utilization with maintenance repair and inspection

scheduling.

• Maximize utilization of our equipment and reduce downtime.

• Maintain good customer relations by having the information readily

available when a service request comes in.

• Reduce (eliminate) scheduling errors or bottlenecks.

• The equipment mobilization process requires multiple, unlinked data

processes.

• Lack of a simple, easily accessible planning view for equipment causes

delays

• Lack of real-time maintenance schedule integration with operations

planning schedule.

• No system data link between the job number and the transportation order.
