The JCC nurtures a passion for Jewish learning and living. Through programs and services, the JCC provides comfortable and inviting environments in which the community can thrive.

The JCC has served Columbus since 1913, when a meeting place for new immigrants and members of the Jewish community opened on South Washington Avenue. As the needs of

the community have grown, so have the facilities and services offered at the JCC. This thriving community organization currently serves some 200,000 members and guests from 74 Central Ohio zip codes. Dedicated to the physical, cultural and educational enrichment of individuals and families, the JCC plays a significant role in the Central Ohio community.

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus is a human service agency offering a varied program that is Jewish in nature. It is committed to enhancing the quality of individual and family life through the promotion of

physical, intellectual and spiritual wellness. It provides educational and cultural programs that reflect the Jewish heritage, health related activities and many services to the community at large. Through its wide array of programs, the JCC pursues its mission of strengthening the individual, family and community.

Thirty-one future leaders participated in the inaugural Michael J. Canter JCC Leadership Program. The program mentored and devel-oped emerging leaders through four workshops including discus-sions with The Wexner Foundation Senior Philanthropic Advisor and President Emeritus Larry Moses, President and CEO of the JCCA Doron Krakow, and Chairman and CEO of L Brands Leslie Wexner. The MJC Leadership Program was created to honor the late Michael J Canter, a JCC Past President who was deeply involved in developing leaders within the Jewish community. The fund is led by his family.

Decked out in Broadway musical memorabilia, Gallery Players pictures through the ages, and casino games, 350 guests attended the 2019 JCC Annual Gala celebrating Gallery Players 70th season. The JCC was proud to celebrate its theater company who continuously produces theater of the highest artistic expression while reflecting a Jewish perspective and exploring common humanity. The successful event was co-chaired by Adam Lewin, Elaine Lewin, Carrie Madison, Connie Tuckerman, and Carol and Fred Luper. Funds raised from the event will directly help Gallery Players renovate the Roth/Resler Theater.

AES SHORT FILMCOMPETITION

CAMP CHAVERIM B’IVRIT:

HEBREW IMMERSION CAMP

The TrackMan simulator was made possible through a lead donation by the Weisman family in honor of their beloved parents, Ann and Meyer z”l Weisman, and thirty additional donations. JCC members of all skill levels can play some of the best courses of the PGA Tour, take private lessons, or simply practice their swing! No matter the weather, this new simulator adds value to the JCC membership in a convenient and fun way to play golf!

NEW TO THE DIAMOND FAMILY FITNESS CENTER!Summer 2018 was the inaugural year for Kayitz Kef Hebrew

Immersion Camp! Only one of ten JCC summer camps in the country to offer this program, the Columbus JCC knows how the Hebrew language strengthens Jewish identity and connects to Israel. The camp featured a full schedule of sports, arts and crafts, swimming and more all conducted solely in Hebrew from the very first day. Through daily absorption, campers gained proficiency and came home each day proud of their new language skills while never missing out on the myriad of activi-ties that make camp so magical. Camp Chaverim B’ivrit was made possible through generous support from Leslie and Abigail Wexner and the Areivim Philanthropic Group.

Honoring Andrew Ethan Stern, the first AES Short Film Competition awarded two top prizes. The competition was open to all Ohio filmmak-ers ages 16-40 and could be a film of any genre relating to the Jewish experience. The total prize package was $2500. The AES Grand Prize winner, Frank Itai Joseph, is from Zanesville and attended Columbus Torah Academy and the Columbus Jewish Day School before studying film at Northwestern University. The AES Short Film Competition was made possible through generous funding by the AES Family Fund of the Columbus Jewish Foundation, in memory of Andrew Ethan Stern by his parents, Jerry and Rozanne Stern.

Individuals and families from throughout the community provide financial resources for our annual Gala, Cultural Arts programming, scholarships, the Annual Campaign, capital improvements, and our JCC endowment

funds. In 2018, our Lead Donors provided funds in excess of $600,000 by giving at or above the $1,000 level. We offer our deepest appreciation to this group of donors, and invite the community to join them in leading the way.LEAD DONORS
