MANUSCRIPT

"THE WHOLE TOWN'S TALKING: A Farce in Three Acts" by John Emerson and

Anita Loos. New York: Longmans, Green [1924]. Original

playscript. 112 mimeographed quarto pages, in printed

wrappers. With text on rectos only. This copy is labeled

"Players; Prompt Book."

This is Loos' first play for the theater. She began writing silent

film scenarios in 1912 at the age of 19 and had produced more than

100 when she moved to New York in the early Twenties and started

to write stage plays, beginning with this one. By 1931 she was

back in Hollywood writing screenplays.
